I know there has been quite a bit of discussion about if you should change your oil more frequently than the manufacturer recommendations.

Since all the data is in this latest pic, I'm cleaning up and deleting the redundant information. As you can see below, the data from the 30K, 40K, and 50K, 60K, 70K, 80K is there.

    I'm using 0W-20.... For my 30k, I used Mobil 1 0W-20 Advanced Fuel Economy.

For more info on the reports: https://www.bobistheoilguy.com/engine-oil-analysis/

Please note: I goofed up the 80K sample a little. I forgot to take the sample from the oil pan. I ended up having to take it from the filter housing.... after I drained it with the plastic spout. Basically, I just took the filter out and poured the remains in the sample jar. I kinda figure that might be the worst oil anyways. Just a FYI.

Thanks for sharing - good to see some hard data on the oil change intervals!

you cant interpret much until the OP has several OCI's that are all tested. Its good to compare to their universal average for this motor too, but seeing what YOUR engine is doing compared to previous changes is the key. IF something all the sudden spikes to a weird level, you can pin point problems before bad things happen. So copper goes sky high... can point to main/rod bearings. If iron goes up could be valve guides. Etc...

You can get that the oil is still good after 10,000 miles... That's the main question here.

As far as the health of my engine, you get a ballpark idea, but as you stated the more data points, the better I'll be able to tell if I have a rebuild coming up.

I got a few more changes before I run out of warranty. I'll test those too, but I'm not really worried about it as most engines will make 200k with proper maintenance, easy.

Filter? Correct. OEM filter each time.

The viscosity is surprisingly good for that interval.

Most mfgs really test the snot out of oil and give you a conservative estimate on the frequency the oil should be changed.

Yeah, I've done Blackstone samples before on my old 5vzfe and was surprised to see how poorly the viscosity was holding up on Mobile 1 full synthetic at only 6k.

Mostly, it's snarky comments, but every now and then I try to be useful.

Might have had something else going on killing your oil? Boosted? How was your TAN?

I'm pretty sure I could put 20k on my truck with the mobil1 0-20W synthetic I use and get a clean bill of health, all is normal engine health check.
They ran multiple synthetic oil trial tests on state police cruisers many years ago, some went much longer and when they tore them down for inspection, they found amazing good results no appreciable wear after 100-200k, or so they reported.

But that's never gonna happen in my case as I like changing my oil & filter every 5k, just to be sure and getting under there to check everything and making sure everything is ok under there

Thanks for sharing the good findings, this is good news on these engines
    Cheers
