he says in one video he doesn't air the customer's tires down due to liability. if he airs down and they drive off he would be held liable if something happens on the way to a gas station or something to fill up. he airs down his tires though.

and yea that tacoma one was dumb where he ripped off the bumper, but the owner didn't even know it was plastic the whole time. it comes off and the owner was surprised. the bumper could have been saved if they spent a few extra minutes looking or didnt pull him so far back

Someone else had already aired down the Titan's tires. Plus I don't think I would really classify that as romping on it. The truck is under load so should not have any ill effects. He constantly proves how important it is to know how to drive and get yourself out. Would be rather embarrassing to call someone to get you out and they don't even need to hook up to you lol.

The list is long but distinguished
Both Matt and Paul (FabRats is a fun YT channel as well) said they wanted to be as far from that truck as they could get to avoid the same fate. You very rarely see them use a winch for a recovery so you know that lake bed is no joke.

Hes explained in a couple of videos that while there are other techniques to get a stuck truck out, he is a business and time is money. It takes 1 min to hook up a kinetic strap and start pulling. Airing down is 5 minutes and may not work. The quicker he can safely yoink a car out and be ready for the next call the better.

I like watching his videos. As for the pricing, I wonder if he charges by the hour and by how many employees he brings out with him. For example, Ed, he doesnt do anything, but are you paying for him to be there? Sometimes it seems like he has a lot of helpers there, that dont really do anything. I've heard that some of his retrievals cost upwards of 4 grand, but dont have any data to back it up.

Geez 4k? I was recently stuck on a Colorado mountain in deep snow and ice. Called the towing service and advised them that they'd need a snowcat and they quoted me a $1k fee. They'd have to tow their snowcat about 30 miles as well.

However thanks to a generous Texan passer-by with his snowcat, we managed to extract my truck. Lost one of my recovery boards in the process as well..

think I read that on one of the comments on an extraction on his youtube channel. Again, not sure of the details, or if its true or not.

I was quite surprised that so few towing services in the Gunnison area has snowcat. Guy told me he has to call his brother in law up and drive there to pick up his snowcat, then drive 30 plus miles to my location. $1k was what quoted. I was ready to go with that option as well until a gentleman drove by in his cat. Gentleman refused any offers of cash, beer or dinner as a token of gratitude.

I sure would hope if he's featuring these recoveries on his YT page he's offering them some leniency in the overall cost for it, I mean I wouldn't want to pay a few grand $$$$ and have my situation blasted on YT for all to see lol.

I'm sure what he records and posts is only a fraction of what he does but I would imagine/hope there's a deal worked out for those he does make videos of, besides obviously asking for them to agree to the filming of it.

They have...but slid off/didn't quite do it right, they're supposed to be under the tire, not besides it. BTW been there before, sucks, sorry.

If you watch the video, that's a still from when they already started pulling it out and it started to slide away.

I’m not sure how he prices it. I know he asks permission, he has mentioned that some people he is pulling out have asked to not be on camera and in other videos he says “we were out here pulling out a truck that didn’t want to be filmed when we got another call for this SXS. He also gives everyone that goes on camera a t shirt. So there is that.

That price wouldn’t surprise me for one of the more involved recoveries. In a lot of cases they’re towing a recovery vehicle hours from their home base and spending a whole day to get someone out.

My buddy was helping his neighbor move his RV the other day and it got stuck on a muddy shoulder on the side of a main road in town. That was $800 for the tow truck just to show up.

He’s talked about pricing in one of his videos, but didn’t give any details. He said something like, it’s a fair price or everyone is happy or something like that. It was an old Q&A video. I’m sure it depends on the distance or time involved. I’ve also seen him help plenty of people out for free.

Probably depends on the time it takes. If they were in the area, it only took a few minutes, and nothing broke, I'd wager it'd be close to free.

Yeah, you see a bunch where they go out on a call then pick up more jobs while they are out there. Especially at Sand Hollow.
