I searched first! :) and it was overwhelming frankly

At a lot of stop lights half the time my brand new 15DCSB Trd Sport lurches forward like its going to hit the person in front of me or I got tapped in the back like a oops moment from the vehicle in the back. C'mon this is a brand new 30k+ truck... really. Already in the first week I owned it the tailgate handle snapped off for no reason other than asking it to open.... Rant over

So is this a "go the stealership" (again in two months) or a " Guy welcome to the Taco with Ax wrap" if that is what it is.... OR?

Thanks in advance. Not everyone who roams here is a truck expert so I truly appreciate the advice and occasionally the witty banter associated with the forum.

Definitely not an axle wrap issue if you are just sitting still. Probably when your AC compressor kicks on.

AC compressor for sure. You'll get used to it.

Tailgate handle snapped off, that sucks!

OP, you may answer that the A/C is off, but if you selected defrost on the HVAC panel, the A/C compressor will operate periodically.... this is normal and designed into it.

... In other words, you don't have an axle wrap or tranny problem.

    Do you have an Automatic??
    Search "Automatic Lurch"
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/search/17392/?q=Automatic+lurch&t=post&o=relevance

It's normal. In fact.....it has nothing to do with A/C - although, probably feels worse with it on. From what I've experienced and/or learned - if you make quick stops, the transmission is downshifting AFTER you come to a stop. That's what the lurch is. The transmission downshifting.

If you slow down first and come to a stop on a more relaxed slow pace, you won't get that lurch.

After a while, you won't even notice it. I've had my truck for 8+ years now, and I don't even notice it anymore.

Since you're still under warranty, I would atleast have your dealer check to make sure there's enough fluid in the transmission.

My 2015 does this. Will catch you off guard if you aren't hard on the brakes when sitting still. I attributed mine partially to the supercharger but it sounds common.

It does feel like the ac kicks on and causes an idle up sometimes too.

Thanks all!!! Yep.... we got a weird to us spoiled Floridians a late "cold" front and it was only 65 out this morning and sure enough after reading your posts about the a/c... it's def that lurch with the compressor on and nothing else! Best forum I have used for great information... thanks again

and it's due for the first OC @ 5k soon so I'll have them check the tranny fluid level just cause and hopefully their body shop can adjust the replacement tailgate handle cause I still have to push the gate in while pulling to get it to open... RRRR

just to make sure, if you have a torque wrench handy, re-torque the rear U-bolts to around ~80ft lbf
