OK, I'm bored. Who else is running 255-75/17?

Currently running 245/75-17 falken Wildpeaks on the Sema TRD wheels, likely will try these next. Don't want the tires sticking out too much.

Good to know. I need to upgrade my spare and didn’t really want to bang or chop if I can avoid it.

i had a set of 17" fj steelies that were gloss black powder coated last year and loved em. Sold em and now i have another set awaiting powder coating lol
i miss the look.. in my opinion the best wheel setup on tacomas. I got so many compliments on those steelies i can't even count. The powder coating is what makes it. Those look killer on your truck.....here's an old pick of them on my truck last year. I have 2021 trd pro 16" rims on bfg's now, but will go back to these when my current tires wear out.

    Thanks @DustyMcTaco
Yeah the offset and being 17" really fit great. I always wanted them but ended up waiting a while until a great deal dropped on me.
The bonus was the kid sold em to me for 125 whole set of four. I get em home and get the worn out tires off of them and low and behold they
were stamped year 2007. First year of the FJ. Someone took great care of them! Not a spot of surface rust at all. That's when I knew I wanted to
    have them coated.

My powder coating guy actually did them twice, he said if it's a steel wheel he always does a grey epoxy coating then the color of choice.

Little heavier but it's not to bad on my 2.7L.

    Your truck looks great man!

PXL_20210914_223850190.jpg Thanks to everyone for leading the way with this set up. I'm loving my 255/75 r17 Firestone MT2s. I got 5 (including spare) new take offs from a Gladiator for under $500 (after selling jeep wheels). I was able to sell my new factory wheels/tires for $1000. If you like this look then jeep take offs are the way to go

Very nice. MT tires in this size look great. I was checking out those tires before I found the Firestone take offs.

The tall skinny 33’s have worked well for me so far. Got my clearance without any trimming. 255/85r16 Dick Cepek Extreme Terrain

I'm entertaining thoughts on the 245/75/16's on a stock SR5. No lift, no leveling, no nothing.
Will they look wimpy or be a big improvement over the stock Firestones.

I’ve been running 255/75R17 Duratracs for almost a year and I love em. I think they look great with a small lift (mine has 1” all around). The Duratracs run bigger than other brands in this size. They’re about the same height as every other brands’ 255/80R17s, and my neighbor’s 33” (285/75R16) KO2s are pretty much exactly as tall as mine, eyeballing them next to each other. Mine rubbed a little bit on the Fender liners every once in a while at a certain angles (like when pulling into steep driveways, etc…) so I had to trim a little bit of plastic.

Looks like the 255/75R17s don’t rub w stock rims (I think stock are+30 offset) … I wonder if they rub with like +4 or 0 or -10 offset? Thanks

Looks very nice. So tell me about that black trim around the wheel wells? What is it, brand? Never seen that before and I like it.

They called Ezyflair or something close. They are rubber lining that uses 3M tape. I wanted something to protect the small portion of the wheel well. They worked perfect. Surprised they have held for two years now. No rock chips and did not have to install large plastic.

They don’t rub with the stock +30s. They will hit mud flaps occasionally on turns with bumps (think: driveways) with +4, and if you go to -10 you’ll probably have significant rub at least when turning.

I run 255/75s on the stock +30 sport rims with factory mud flaps and they are not even close to hitting even on sharp turns with bumps. I’m pretty certain I could have done 255/80R17 with no issues even with flaps still but I wasn’t interested in that size. The stock offset really keeps you away from components just due to how the tires pivot with that offset. The only thing is you can’t go wide because wider than stock will hit the UCA.
