    stock, for now
i dont understand this. I took my stock wheels off my truck, let them warm up wiped them down with acetone and painted them krylon flat black. Been like that for 2 winters now, and ive had no problems,no chips,no scratches. Dont understand all these people who sand and prime there wheels.

It looks good, just not necessary IMO.

I know duplicolor wheel paint is the best to use on wheels, but has anyone used a different kind of paint with good effect? Just got back from walmart and they dont carry duplicolor wheel paint. So I picked up krylon flat black for metal surfaces. I can always use it for something else if it's gonna suck on my wheels.

Autozone and PepBoys carry Duplicolor paints.

I used regular Duplicolor-not the wheel paint-and it worked out great. I'm sure you'll be fine with the Krylon- as long as you prep right.

What's up everyone, just bought my truck last week and painting my stock rims black is my first project Tacoma. My buddy did it on his Tundra and it looks mean....love it. I have done alot of reading on this site and others just to make sure I do it right. I'll post pics when its done.

After that it's modifying my headlights, blackening them out as well.

By the way i am new to TC and this is an incredible site!

I'm going to be attempting to paint my stock SR5 wheels in the next few days. Anyone who has done this live in the northern states where it gets cold, or in western Canada where it gets stupid cold?

I'm wondering how this will hold up in minus 40 to minus 50 deg C weather.

    Thanks.
