I didnt use primer and I used Rustoleum Textured Black Paint and holding up well in the Mud and Rain. This color is a flat black but the paint is a rough finish Like a linex coating. Sells at Home Depot or WalMart.

Use Bigger Jackstands and Jack. I guess. HAHA

How long does the drying period need to be? Could I paint all 4 on saturday and be good for work on Monday? This is a great mod and top of my list like many others.

I had Les Shcwab do mine and they were pretty careful but did scratch them a little, but was able to touch them up with the spray can.

Greetings, i found this older thread when looking for tips as my wife and i are about to paint her TACO Sport 17's black. Then i saw your USAF in the siggy file and thought i would send a thanks your way. Both my kids are in the USAF. Our son at Charleston and our daughter at Travis. And speaking of starting them out young... here is a picture of our daughter helping me with my 1975 FJ40 chev.327 when she was three and now she's a Ssgt in AGE. Soooo, you never know what those seeds you plant as a dad will turn out to be!

I'll post a picture of my wife's TACO when we are done with the project. Thanks again for your tips you shared.

Here is a shot of my wife's daily driver after my she and i completed the rattle can job on the four 17" sport aluminum rims. It was a breeze. The tires were left on the rig, and after lightly sanding with 400 grit sandpaper we used electircal tape to tape/trim around the tire at the rim, then taped part of a plastic drop cloth to the first run of black electrical tape, sprayed 8 to 10 thin coats of rustoleum satin black with several minutes between coats. Looks as nice as something one would find on a showroom.

    Cheers,
    Thom
