    No sir.

That's a faux Atkinson cycle via VVT. A true atkinson cycle will have a different stroke length for the compression stroke vs the expansion stroke (not a difference in compression due to leaving the intake valve open). I am not aware of any commercially viable true atkinson cycle engines (but haven't engaged google fu to find them either).

There really isn't any point to Port Injection in a VVt Atkinson cycle engine if you don't allow it to revert to otto cycle under load.

Yes and no. A faux Atkinson cycle engine delivers most of the efficiency of the original design w/o the associated vibration and weight issues. A Atkinson only (even a faux design) delivers optimum power over a relatively narrow band. Adding port injection allows the engine to shift back (partially) to Otto cycle under load, meaning effective displacement and power ratings will be improved.

There is no other reason to include port injection on a faux Atkinson cycle.

I'm probably not either. Been damn good trucks and I well satisfied with them (shotcomings noted and worked around where possible). Probably going fullsize for my next buy, but will check the Tacoma's out before I buy....

No, I'm saying I posted that link an hour ago in support of my point of view in my discussion with Rock Lobster and you crop dusted this thread like you usually do.

It couldn't be an Atkinson only, as it would have no power. Atkinson is efficient, but doesn't make much power, and with linkage, and 2 cranks (essentially), it would be too large for most applications. The "Atkinson" cycle folks are hearing about, is mimicked by the valves.

No reason too, as the "Atkinson" cycle only happens at steady cruise. Once your in the throttle, you get normal DI performance.
