    Direct Injected engines are claimed to be 5-10% more fuel efficient than traditional fuel injected engines. And from what I have seen, this seems to be pretty much accurate. Also, you get more power, and torque from the same size, or smaller, engine.

    The photos of the new Tacoma's dash show a 6000 RPM redline. IMO, that's good. The nearly 7000 RPM you have to rev the GM to for peak power is absurd in a truck.

    Daily driving my 4.0, I almost never go above 2500 RPM. I could probably stay below 2000 if I were willing to drive a little more like grandma.

    I hate to say it, but the bar has been raised. I used to think "quick" was an 8 second 0-60. Now days, when most V6 family sedans are doing that in less than 6, things have changed. Everyday pick ups are doing the quarter mile in 15 seconds or less. Seems now, to be considered "quick", you have to be running less than 14's in the 1/4. Used to be easy to mod your truck to wup a car. Now......people are maxing their credit cards just to get it to keep up with a decent family sedan.

    Seems "high" is relative, considering most full size truck offerings easily peg that number, or more.

    Oh, they do. Consider the first gen V6 is running the same HP as an 80's Camero, and the Second gens are pushing more than the same decade Corvette.......I'd say things are moving up.
