Gotta check the date when they were made. Usually when you see a brand name tire at those prices, their older stock needing clearing out.

My last and current set of Coopers that I am not thrilled with ride or wear ran me almost $1400, so I am open to the idea of some lower cost options.

I think Walmart buys in bulk which allows them to sell cheaper!

Yeah, I think some people here underestimate the buying power wally world has and what they can get a manufacturer to do for them, even dusting off old molds to sell a tire cheaper than dirt.

That being said when mine show up tomorrow I will post up the date codes. Maybe they are old...

I don't really want to put a damper on your enthusiasm... but I've worked for Wally World and been inside the home office and been privy to some real inside info... and as you say, "if something seems too good to be true, it usually is."

The products sold under a brand name to the general public from most retailers are not necessarily the same product sold by "all" retailers. (if you get my drift)

A certain orange oil filter was once high quality... and then they started to build their filters to the specs of the company that wanted to buy them wholesale for less money and sell them as though they were the same high quality.

    Be advised...

I bought these from Wally back in January, but the 16'' wheel size.
So far so good, nice riding tire had my local dealer put them on I think it was $650 for mount balance and alignment OTD.
Pretty FN cheap for 4 tires etc....
They ride well and are wearing well. Quiet too.

Those Coopers are the previous model that they still make for Walmart. Suffice to say they're a decent tire, just a little "dated". I had a localish tire/auto place order and put on a set of Discoverer AT3 4S (latest version) mounted, balanced, installed with tax was $780. So, that's roughly $195 a tire installed. Not too bad.

In my garage. Definitely old version, siping gives it away, along with the lack of 4S.

Date code is 5121 on all 4 tires.

$530 to my garage for name brand tires in today's world is hard to beat. All in should be about $630.

    $629.96 All in.

I'd forgotten how nice SL's ride vs. E's.

I was wondering about that too, but couldn't really confirm. I bought some Falken tires for my Mitsubishi a while back from Walmart. I heard nothing but good things about that particular tire on the forums, but the ones I got at Walmart struggled to get grip. It was one of the worst tires I have ever had on there.

I've bought name brand tires from them that wore out in as little as 12K miles under hard use. Other tires of the same brand and style from other sources lasted much longer.

Also, these tires have a 60k mile warranty from Cooper. So while no doubt Walmart has the juice to get things done per their request, the tires are warrantied through the manufacturer, same mileage as any other retailer and other versions of the same series of tire.

I'm not worried regardless. 71k miles on the clock and I'm on my 4th set of tires anyways.
