Regarding the sealed part. I know on my 4R there are two small holes in the lower air box. Forget the size but maybe 13/64. If those are plugged or sealed I’m fairly certain it would be a sealed system up to the snorkel intake.

Is this a similar design on the Tacoma’s? Small holes in the filter housing?

Am very surprised he was able to back out.

Did some similar shenanigans in my 91 way back in 93 when the midwest was underwater and I was in my 20's. Me and a couple of Korean ladies were able to push it out after the stall.

Good thing we didnt have cell phones and dash cameras then.

    Yeah.
I'd have to look, but I don't recall seeing any when I put on the TRD intake. If they are in the bottom, they are likely there to drain any SMALL amounts of water that might get sucked in (driving in the rain, splashing through puddles).

It didn't look like he went too far past where the stock intake pulls in air. Yes, I drive a Cav Blue TRD Pro. No, that was not me.

These are the holes that are in the 4Runner’s filter housing.

Are you planning on contributing anything valuable to this thread or are you going to continue to call people dumbasses and to STFU?

I just meant the fact it’s 4-5 ft deep standing water. I don’t think anyone is gonna die. Unless of course they can’t swim, or someone loses an arm floaty

Lol. You’d be the “dumbass” that seals his snorkel but forgets about the body ECU/fuse box, all the electrical modules that aren’t sealed, the diff breather and the exhaust...

You’re right. We are the dumbasses.

That might be a good idea to check it out and install the breather? But to each his own!
The breather is only an opening that is covered with a thin metal cap that allows the expansion and cool of the fluid to relieve pressure by allowing air flow while preventing dirt and contaminants from entering. Very simple design.
When you dunk a hot rear end into cold water it has a chance of sucking water back into the cooling diff. (It happens and there are hundreds of threads on this)

Unless they have improved the design? You risk having water intrusion every time you immerse your hot diff under cold water.

But like I said it's up to you!

Just don't try and sell crazy to me! I know better!

I'll tell you what. Nearly every flood-related death is caused by a dumbass driving into a clearly flooded portion of road.

Not only is it natural selection in action, but then first responders have to put themselves at risk trying to save a fucking dumbass, when they could be helping other innocent victims who did not jump from safety into danger by their own freewill.

Anyone who does this on a public road during an emergency event is a selfish fucktard.

    In my humble opinion.

Seen the AZ law where if you do this, you’re on the hook to pay for your own rescue?

Brah. You drive a mall crawler. You're never crossing more than a spilled slurpee in the 7-11 parking lot. I'll tell you the same as I told the other guy. Go pull yours out and try to suck water through it. It wont happen unless it's stuck open and even then it will be a minuscule amount.

    Yeah.
Top one is puzzling, but bottom one definitely looks like it is positioned to be a drain.

The stock Tacoma breather is actually more of a pop-off valve -- not just a cap. It requires a certain amount of positive air pressure in the diff for it to open. The Toyota P/N that has been posted here for the breather mod (some kind of Camry part, I think) is not the same and more like what you describe -- it is just a cap and has no valve inside. I know, I bought one and did a comparison.

    I agree.

Probably the same fuckers that think you need an extended diff breather to drive through a puddle.

Not really sure what you would "contribute" to a thread about a YouTube video of a guy driving his truck into water. Its not like we are solving a problem here. In fact it looks to me lile a bunch of people calling a guy a dumbass because the intake isnt watertight, when in reality it was, and he drove out unscathed.

Not really sure why you have issue with me and not the multiple other sh*tposters on this thread calling the guy a dumbass.

I certainly don't. If by "you" you mean yourself then by all means extend away. Just stay away from my slurpee.
