I've been having a bad time with my OME BP-51 front lower shock mounts. I originally bought this setup in 2016, in 2018 and again in 2023 I noticed the front lower shock mounting failing. This time I took measurements, made a CAD drawing, and had some custom misalignment spacers made from 17-4 Stainless steel like every other Racing Shock manufacturer.

As noted below the problem is that ARB/OME engineers did not size the misalignment spacers correctly (16mm hole for a 14/12mm diameter bolt) nor did they use an adequate material. The bolts are allowed to hammer up and down in the bushing relying on 67ft/lbs clamping pressure to hold them. The new spacers are sized to fit a 14mm diameter bolt, and new 10.9 bolts were used.

It’s to bad this is still an issue with them. When I sent mine off for warranty exchange I had to beat the bolts through with a punch a BFH. The bolts looked like they had lost 10-15% percent of material from wear. That was in 2018 I believe. I was really hoping they had worked all th bugs out by now.

Sandman614, I know it has been over a year now so hopefully you will see this and able to offer some guidance. it seems the spherical bearing from OME (VD10010019SP) is backgrounder until late September of 2024. Do you know if the "com18mt" spherical bearing that is readily available will work as well or are they one in the same? If yes, then will I need to do the same thing you did in order to get them to fit or can I use the same bolt even though it seems to be a bad design. I am more interested in gettign rid of this squeaking than anything else. Are new O-Rings and Reducers needed as well?

    Many thanks,
    Houston

I did use the COM18MT bearings but they need correctly sized misalignment spacers. The ones ARB provides with the shocks(when I bought them) will not work. I sized the spacer to fit a correctly sized bolt.

Who made your misalignment spacers, and how much did it cost? Is this a repeatable order?
