I called two shops here in San Diego for a quote on the install of an old man emu medium load suspension lift kit (comes with new leaf springs). Lowest quote was $1100 for a full day install. I’m looking at what this kit comes with and even though I’m not a mechanic, I’m having trouble with this taking all day to install for an experienced shop. Am I wrong?

Unless they are billing you hourly it doesn't matter how long they take.

My guess is they are charging book time to create a price (std method) and asking to have the truck for the day so they can either squeeze some walk in work or just not be rushed.

Alright, let me ask this another way, is 1100 a fair price for the install?

Someone familiar with Cali prices will have to answer that........

I'd spend a weekend rolling in the garage floor and do it myself, then use the savings for something else. But that's me.

For a full 8 hour install such as this one it seems like a fair number. Most shops around here are $120ish/hr, but I am almost certain that SoCal rates are higher. Doesn't seem like a crazy price.

That’s excellent advice, I’m not wed to a shop so that link was great. Thank you!
