I feel like the 5100s on the rear of my truck are limiting its travel; would switching to OME shocks help? I love my NTsports up front, what say ye about the rears?

I have read that the OME's were limiting travel for some others and they were going to switch to bilsteins. PM BOXROCKET if he is still on here he would know.

The only way to know for sure is to know the extended and compressed lengths from upper to lower shock mounts. Then you can find shocks that work within those lengths.

If you have access to a forklift its pretty easy to flex it out to the maximum to see if your shocks are limiting the flex.

I have a question on the 883's. I am currently running the 881's on my 98 ext cab 3.4l 4wd. I am about to add a ARB bumper with winch. How are the 883's holding up to weight? I am fine the lift I have now with 881's, but want some coils that will hold up the weight over time. I also thought about getting the extended stud kit while the struts were disassembled and maybe to 10mm trim packer. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I have the 883's on my 02 Xtra Cab. They were a little too stiff at first when I only had the ARB bumper. But once I added my winch and skid plates, I think it is about perfect now. I only have about 4-5k on it, but so far so good!

Seems to be holding the weight well? Just want to make sure I maintain my current lift like the 881s are giving me without bumper and winch. Also kind of on the fence whether I should go ahead and get the extended studs and 10mm trim packer. Figured why not do the studs since the shock will be apart anyway to install the 883? Thanks

They are holding the weight well! Also has good ride quality with weight. As for the trim packs and stuff, I did not get those with my lift. I am only running 31's right now though, so I didn't feel it was necessary.
Here is how my truck was sitting right after the lift installation. This picture is WITHOUT the winch and aftermarket skid plates installed. I don't think it settled all that much after the winch and skids, but it definitely improved the ride quality with the extra weight. The truck rode pretty stiff before I added the extra weight of the winch and skids.

Looks good, same color as mine also. I will most likely just got with the 883, no trim packers. Thanks

I have an 02 prerunner xtra cab and about to purchase this kit. How would you describe the 883s before you had front bumper & accessories done vs stock bilisteins you had? I just want to gauge the ride feel. I know it's going to be stiffer without weight but I'm 50/50 about adding a bumper and winch. I do have a supercharger but I don't think that would affect the weight difference much. Any input would be greatly appreciated man.

Little bit different situation I have the 881 coils and no weight on a double cab prerunner. I got about 2.5" of lift just from the coils themselves. The ride is quite a bit stiffer than what I had before and that was bilsteins 5100 set a 2.5" of lift on stock coils.

^^^ If you disconnect/remove your front anti-swaybar, your left rear tire would not be lifted in the air like that.

With 883s, it should be negligble. I did it with 881s, and it was much less noticeable than I thought it would be. You notice it more in off-camber turns. Just try it and take it easy and you'll see.
