I love the look of the 2016 Off Road Wheels, but I was eyeballing them next to mine. I think with a bit of paint work and polishing, the old wheels would have the same look as the new ones. They wouldn't look the same, but near enough to justify keeping the old ones. I noticed when I was cleening mine up to black them out, the sander made perfect lines down to the metal, leaving the powder on the non-flat surfaces....

Those are actually just two stock wheel photos. I didn't actually make mine look that way. Haha. Considering it though. Mine still look this way. I just think that polishing each of the 5 Y's would give a close enough facsimile.

That looks platidipped? I would personally just strip your entire wheel, painters tape the "y's" and respray. You can strip the rims fairly easy wiyh a pressure washer. I think tryinh to remove the sections you want will leave tears and just look kinda ugly.

These are Rustoleum. I had the worst kind of bubbling with the original powder coat. I don't like the plastidip stuff. If I ever want them pretty again, I'll have em powdered. I have a great powdercoater guy. Or I'll just buy wheels.

Finally got my new wheels and tires on the truck so I decided to hit these with the orbital sander, just to see what they'd look like two tone.

I plastidipped the crappy chrome rims on my Yukon. Easy to do, no sanding prep, looks good still after three years. Chip repairs are stupid easy: feather the edges with alcohol on a rag, then spray it. Couple of coats, and you can't tell where the chip was.

It's a nice low cost option that I'd use again.

Did the blacked out wheels for about a year, but I'm a bit burnt out on em. So I have Gunmetal Grey wheels now. Looking for something different to do for the 4runner now. Might go with grey on my off-road wheels for that. IMAG0644.jpg
