Last month I drove the Old Ore Road in BBNP from north to south, and had a great time. The OOR is a rough, 26 mile dirt road on the east side of the park. You need high clearance, good tires and the park requires 4WD. My mostly stock TRD Off Road did great, I run BFG KO2s and have Bilstein 5100s all around. No lift. This was the fifth or sixth time I've driven this road, it's that much fun.
Why north to south? It unfolds better that way. There are ruts, some cool descents and ascents, and plenty of places where you have to think about how to proceed. Nothing particularly techinical, just slow and steady. I got over ten MPH a couple of times for a brief time.
We stopped at ruins, tinajas and did a couple of hikes, it was a full day and really good one.

Please do, I grew up in Texas. lived in many, many different towns. I went to Big Bend with my dad from Midland when I was about 11-12 years old. We rode Burros across the border and My Dad and his friend smuggled many bottles of Tequila across the border. They hid them in the back of a station wagon with all of us boys sleeping on top of it. Very fond memories of that trip. So please post some pics.
