Although I am new to this forum, I am not a new Tacoma owner. I recently upgraded from a 2006 Tacoma SR-5 PreRunner with Sport package to a 2016 Tacoma 2WD SR-5 with towing package. Although I love the 3.5 Liter engine and all the GPS/blue tooth technology in the new ride, I feel like the 2016 lacks some of the personality of the '06.

The main thing I want to change is get rid of the the 16X7 rims with the wimpy 245/75-16 tires. Had thought about some aftermarket wheels but quickly realized the selection for 6 lug applications is pretty limited. Am now thinking about putting some 2nd Gen 5 or 6 spoke (Pre-Runner, 4Runner, FJ Cruiser) 17X7.5 OEM styled wheels. Have already searched the forms but the focus appears to be on putting 2nd or 3rd gen rims on 1 st gen Tacomas. Was unable to find a fitment guide for putting 2nd gen wheels on 3rd gen tacomas-anyone on this forum know of one I may have missed?

Below is a pic of my old ride with the more aggressive P285/60-17 Toyo tires. Will post a pic of my new ride when I gid rid of these wimpy wheels and tires.

Have already gathered that this site is more oriented toward a younger crowd with more of a focus on 4WD/off-roading.
That said, have decided to update this post for the few 2WD/Pre-Runner owners with pics of my 2016 SR-5 now that the new wheels/tires are installed.
It looks completely different with the old school Pre-Runner rims and 275/65-17 Yokohama Geolander A/T tires.
Also added some decals and pin stripes to break up all the silver--gives it a little more character and reminds me of my 2006.
