Still a sweet truck, and in very good shape! Does it at least have a 5-speed?

    1985 Pickup 4x4 SCLB 22R 5SPD Manual
Only 55K Original Miles in Spring of 2018
I'm back! Not in a Tacoma, but I just inherited a 1984 Toyota pickup DLX 4WD single cab long bed with the 22R and 5 speed manual. It has been nonoped for the last 15 years, registration is current and has been driven less than 500 miles since being taken off the road. It has served its life as a ranch truck, so the body is rough, but the absolute best part... It only has 55K original miles. No swaps, replacements, accidents, pretty much been treated like a family heirloom. Getting a thorough once over by a local mechanic right now and then I'm hoping to get a transportation permit and drive it home the weekend after next. Anyways, I've missed my pickup and thankful to have this one fall in my lap. I would welcome any pre-first gen related threads if you know of any. See you around. I'll upload pics as soon as I have some.

    EDIT:

VIN Listings show a "4runner" option - anyone familiar with what this means? Thanks.

    "4runner Pickup" & "fuel injected 22r"
None of that is correct. You either have a 4runner or pickup, also the 22re is fuel injected not the 22r

Thanks for the welcome a-hole. It's a pickup, but it lists 4runner as an option along with DLX when I looked up the VIN (I was curious about that myself). I'm guessing it's a remnant from the manufacturing process and sharing the chassis with the 4runner. As for the engine, I don't have eyes on yet. VIN listings are conflicting, some say direct others say indirect. Looking at most pickup of thus year on CL, seems that the 22R (not RE) is what it has in it. Here we have another great example of a TW member "helping" out.

Welcome back, I just looked up my 1988 pickup vin# an the 6th number has my truck a 95 tacoma. It does show what it really is on the 7th number tho, so I wouldn't worry to much about it. Ready to see some pictures.

You're very welcome yourself. It should be pretty obvious if the body is a 4runner or pickup
Pop the hood and on the block the letters may still be there saying 22r, or 22re. If not see if there is a carb. Pretty basic knowledge but I guess you can't be bother to open a hood pal. Feel free to post photos and people will gladly help you out instead of watching you make a fool of yourself
