Got new wheels for the 78 FJ40 (OEM from Toyota, painted Rustoleum Smoke Grey) and some new LED headlights. Hoping to get some body work done in 2022, but we'll see.

My 89 V6 xcab around 1990 out off the Rubicon. It was totaled in a t-bone accident south of Mexico City. I drove the hell out of that thing.

And the 79 BJ40. I bought this in 1994 and still have it. It was stolen in 1998, got it back in mid 2001 and still can't believe it.

It was about an hour north of where I was living in a small town that I had ridden through at least a dozen times on my motorcycles. A known car thief had it and his girlfriend was driving it around. When I got it back, the VIN plate had been removed and replaced with one from a 76 FJ40 and the front passenger side of that frame containing the VIN was behind the drivers seat. The engine was shot - cam lobes were almost round - when I got it back and I had to replace the engine. Wheels and tires were gone and a mismatched set were on it. Still, I'm happy to have gotten it back. I wrote up the whole story and it was in an issue of Toyota Trails magazine.

No kidding. Every time I drive it I think about that.

Now I have to try to locate a new drivers side hard top panel to replace the one that was damaged when I flipped it over in Death Valley a few years ago. Amazing that all the damage was confined to that one panel. No broken glass and just superficial scratches to the rest of the drivers side.

Looking for suggestions on beadlocks for dis
    20210926_091212.jpg

I am looking at Walker Evans and Hutchinsons. I've owned the Hutchinsons so familiar with the tech etc.

The main downside to the Hutchinsons is the weight which is about 54lbs with everything on. The Walker Evans are about 44lbs.

At the moment WE has 4.5 and 4.75 BS in stock so no 3.75 which is what I would have sought. Hutchinsons only offer 4.5:anonymous:.

10pbs less in weight vs dual beadlocks:annoyed:

Price wise, I found the hutchinsons for 483 compared 550 plus in most other places. WE are at 475.

    :annoyed:

They're light, cheaper, and have 3.75 bs available.
