Personally, I find more joy looking at an old car then a newer one. I like new cars but I love old ones (Unless it's the new 2023 Land Cruiser 70 Series, best looking truck in decades IMO)

I absolutely agree. The hordes of ridiculous, over-priced stuff I see on the road do not appeal to the eye at all. I thought it was just age related but even the cars of old look a lot better. I know it's because of safety ratings and improvements in safety and that is good but I guess that is the sacrifice for the way they look. I would assume the newer Tacomas although a bit stupid looking (to me anyway) they are probably quite a bit safer than the ol' first gen.

This is how you know you're getting old. When I was young, the only vehicles that tickled my fancy were the fastest and sleekest sportscars. I always found myself wondering "How fast does that go and how well does it handle?" Now that i am no longer invincible, i.e. well out of my 20s, I find myself lusting after cars that may not be in the best shape (although some like this have been beautifully pampered) but which have been kept on the road owing to sheer mechanical know how and maintenance. Now I wind up asking myself "I wonder how many miles that Tacoma has on it and am I a good enough mechanic to keep it running similarly?" At least in this area, I don't miss my youth at all. Enjoy that truck, it's beautiful and should provide you with another 25 years of use if you take care of it.

We have the same ride, I hardly ever see a 4x4 double cab these days.

I still have my sports car from my early 30s, it's also a 2004!

Old cars have a heart and soul. New cars are mobile living rooms.

in my humble opinion, all of the newer trucks, and that includes Ford, GM and Dodge. All of them look like a "Hog" nose snake to me. Or they're all trying to look like a semi truck. I just plain think they're Ugly and wouldn't care to own one. It's why I like my 03 DC best of all the Tacoma's. I wouldn't mind a 2nd gen since they don't look to bad, but that's as far up the Toyota family tree I'd be willing to go.

1996 3.4L manual in the desert of northeast Nevada on the last day of 2022. I also have a 2014 TRD white Taco, but this old girl is something special at +350K miles.
