Dude...I worked at Vans & Stuff from 1990-1992 and at Big Edna's from opening day til early 1995. Jon B, Pam, Nicole A, the oddball vinyl guy, Hank M. and me. And sometimes David R. Any of those names ring a bell??

For sure...Dan R. is me. I hung out with Pam & Nicole at their place on Folly all the time (had a huge crush on Nicole, but who didn't??). I skated and snowboarded with Hank M quite a bit. Our little skate crew was Brandon A, Eric B, Matt H, Derek C, Hank Y, Hank M, Kevin M, John H & John L.

I was 22 years old in 1994...a senior at C of C. I'm 45 now. I keep in close touch with all of those guys except for the Hanks and Johns. Haven't seen Pam since the 90s. I caught up with Nicole on FB a couple years ago. Super small world! I don't get over to SC much anymore, but I really want to skate the new park!! Maybe this summer...

I'll play. Been skating since I was a kid. Still get out once in a while and want to hit up the local Vans park but I have no clue where my bag with my pads and helmet went. Great memories of skating Pipeline in Upland. Had a 12' wide halfpipe in my backyard which at some point got cut down from vert to a miniramp. Good times!

Huntington Beach back then was a mecca for skating. Lots of friends had sponsorships and one became a movie/tv star but denounced skating due to pseudo-religious beliefs.

A sample of some old decks...that one on the right is mint, never ridden.

I’ve bought a lot from this shop.

Starting mid to late 80’s. First complete too but I can’t remember what it was.

I just noticed that his website has a pretty cool sk8 collection.

And I just saw my first deck, Santa Monica Airlines deck :bananadance:

I'm sure he still is. In the same class as Neil Blender and Gonz. Lance Mountain was funny weird too before he got all wrapped up in religion.

Oh man...the visitor center bus depot was our late night spot! We had pallets, street signs and plywood hidden in the bushes by the Music Farm's loading dock. We would set up that stuff on almost a nightly basis in the visitors center. We all lived right behind there at 507 King St.
Downtown was super fun back then...Customs House, Queen St garage, Wentworth garage, Bishop England school, an old bank off of Meeting St we called "White Curbs" and our everyday meet-up spot, K-Lot (which was a CofC parking lot on Coming & Calhoun Sts. Those days were so great and unfortunately will, most likely, never be replicated.

Funny story...I actually got my nickname/user name "Freighttrain" from skating down Wentworth garage with a bad flat spot on a wheel. That garage had the smoothest concrete and the echoes of my flat-spotted wheel as I came down from the top "sounded like a freight train" according to my friend Eric. That nickname has stuck for 20+ years!!

That's a pretty rad collection. My boards went missing around the same time I moved out. Probably in the landfill with my baseball cards. Go figure.

Wow memories....Skated in the late 70's/80's. Worst crash 8th grade (79), 20 stitches in forehead. Still have the scar. I loved this board! On the wall of shame now.
