Bonus pic of me and my band of skate friends doing something really stupid in an old car. This was on our way to a skate park on the ass end of AZ (from where we all lived).

I'm also on a Welcome deck. Currently on this:
    Welcome_Featherless_Wormtail_Teal_BLG-300x300.jpg
A little wider & longer than most boards. Semi-old-school shape with modern concave. Love it!

Man, my skater days I LOVED looing at CCS. We had this old ass park some dude built on his junkyard called "thrasherland" until the first big skatepark landed around our area. I always loved my vans and still wear vans today. Comfortable shoes. Also really liked watching the original Volcom team skate, those guys were/are awesome.

I only have a few of my own paintings hanging in our house, but have been wanting to put up some decks. I know I still have a few blanks squirreled away in the garage that are begging for paint. Just been busy with other projects. Your pic might be the inspiration I need to get it done.

w00t, that's awesomen and the sticker collection...on point! Yeah, I like to make excuses to go to our data center facility at my place of business because it allows me to wear my vans to work instead of casual shoes. Can't stand those fkin things.

I wear vans around the office. Wearing them now. The new "Pro" line has better adhesive on the edge trim and it goes up higher. That combination means you don't get the "V" separation of the rubber from the canvas where your foot bends. Plus they have upgraded insoles, cuz you know- old knees.

I always thought it was a little pretentious to hang my own art but there were a few that I liked enough to hang.

Maybe an art swap is in order. :anonymous:

When I was in art school, I always hated selling my paintings or drawing because I could never price anything comfortably. I always figured art was overpriced, but I liked trading paintings with other students. "Hey, I like your stuff. Trade you for one of mine."

Not "old" by any stretch but skating was a pretty huge influence on my life as a kid. Was one of the biggest passions I had actually. I just wasn't very coordinated. :p

Shorty's decks were some of my favorite. Still have one of these and a few other older decks too. Scratched, chipped and has a few stickers, but intact otherwise.

They also have an airweight line. Lighter materials- yadda-yadda. They are lighter, but I didn't like that the insole felt as if anything you stepped on could be felt on your foot. Might as well be wearing slippers. It's not like Vans are heavy shoes to begin with.
Up to you and what you're looking for in a shoe though.

I guess I qualify as "old".

This is just part of the stack if reissues I have.

    20171219_215520.jpg

Tried getting an OG Natas kitten and gave up when the reissue came out. Say wjat you will about them, the screening quality and the metallic dips on them are FANTASTIC.

Got about 25-30 more but those were the newest on my camera roll.

I used to skate with a bunch of dudes out here in AZ who called themselves Old Man Army. They started a company and a web forum and I got pretty involved, even becoming one of the main admin/mods.

Everything slowed way down when I had knee surgery about 2 years ago (blew out my left PLC and had to have it replaced), which took 12 months to recover from and in the meantime I got divorced which kinda fucked up my whole everything.

Been slowly getting back into things because my 6 year old and 11 year old daughters both wanted skateboards so I hooked them up, haha. The scene here in AZ changed a lot but there's a very active crew of older dudes who skate, I just need to come out from under my rock and ride with them.

Anyways, I still very much consider myself a skateboarder since I've been riding since 4th grade which was over 30 years ago, haha!

It's exactly why I have that avatar! Love me some old school hardcore like Dead Kennedys, Bad Religion, Suicidal Tendencies, etc.

I'd go skate this weekend but my youngest had a concussion (non-skate related) a couple weeks ago.

Awesome thread. Got my first deck in 1994. Think Numbskull wood, andy stone race wheels (44mm) and venture featherlight trucks. Had multiple board after that. Bought one recently, realized I suck and I'm going to get hurt and sold it. However, WTF happened to the shoes these days? DC's, Etnies, Airwalks, etc all suck now.
