Surgery went well, just home recovering now. Arm is numb AF from nerve blocker.

 

Wait till that nerve blocker wears off, its super FUN!

Four ankle surgeries here over the years, thinking about another one this spring maybe. Its a real bummer but like everything it will pass. Good luck and feel better.

So 3 weeks after my FOOSH (falling on out stretched hand), I lucked out and no cast...! I have a "orthopedic brace" which kind of looks like a cast but is thermally formed to my arm and has a ratcheting system for loosening/tightening it when I take it on/off. Pretty slick.

Still healing from the surgery incision. Have the steri-tape on my arm which I'm just going to let fall off naturally.

Only major issue post-surgery is I have some nerve damage on my thumb that is killing me. Feels like it's burned and any little thing that touches it feels like fire. Makes sleep a challenge. I'm completely off all the Rx bullshit now which is great. I hate taking pills.

I'll post the post-op xrays in a minute. Got a BIG piece of metal in my arm. About 6" long with eight screws.

 

If you are experiencing a increase in nerve sensitivity in your thumb try smoking a lil weed and it might make sleeping a lil more comfortable

 

It's the nerves trying to grow back so yeah, that or booze but I've taken a big break from drinking since this whole mess started since I don't really want to deal with liver failure at the same time (taking large doses of ibuprofen and acetaminophen which I'm also trying to dial back).

Since I'm in AZ I can't just go down to the local green cross store and get something that's more tuned for that which kind of sucks.

Should be starting PT pretty soon which will be interesting since I can't turn my arm thumb outwards yet and curling my thumb all the way isn't happening yet either.

I just want these stitches out/healed so I can soak in the tub like a bored housewife...

I wanted them to put in a wrist mounted laser but would they? NOOOOOOOOOOO. Stupid insurance didn't approve it. "Medically unnecessary" they said. Bah! What do they know...

 

There are plenty of sharks in FL to put lasers on
