“The Board of Parole Hearings has 120 days to finalize the decision. After that, the case will go before the governor for review.

“Unfortunately, justice wasn’t served today, but the governor will have a chance to look at this case and we hope he will,” Deputy DA Sachs said.

Commissioner Roberts ordered Rogowski to live temporarily in transitional housing upon release. The 53-year-old inmate said his long term plan is to live with his brother. He said he already has a job offer to do paralegal or clerical work.”

Crazy story. It will be interesting to see what the governor decides. The question, is justice served considering he spent 31 years in prison and is allegedly rehabilitated and mourn the death of his victim.

LOL first time I saw this thread as well. I skated (deck) Upland a lot in the late 80's and one of the most shredding guys there was a dude on rollerskates. He'd do a forward or backward flip in the air off the lip at the transition from the square to round pool and tons of other cool stuff like that. Totally ahead of his time especially with regard to regular pool skating at the time. That gave us all some new respect for the 2-footed skaters.

After skating all day in Upland we would cough for several days from the smog as I wasn't a local there. The CA air quality has really been cleaned up since then.

Thx just checked this on prime, still there. I think the 80’s punk skater equivalent movie was Suburbia. Some 35 yrs later I still dig the soundtrack (except TSOL) but it is much more difficult to call it a good movie—but it does capture what it was like to be a kid back then, nothing like today.

Merry Christmas mad lads. Searched the thread and can’t find any mention of these new gen Flyaway helmets. I’m a little nostalgic and would go for one but not if it’s a toy as what’s inside my skull is slightly more valuable than when I was a kid.

    Any feedback?

Cant comment on the Flyaways, ive never owned one. Honestly I didn't ever wear a helmet much when i was skateboarding. :anonymous:

Ive always worn one snowboarding though. Protec has a good reputation for quality. For the last 7-8 yrs I've been wearing the same Bern carbon fiber helmet that i really like. Its so light i forget it's even there, which is exactly what I'm looking for

They’re briefly reissued here and there through “Kanoa”.Prices range from $350+.Original 1970’s(NOS)can rarely be found at price ranging from $1k+.

Get yourself a S1,Protec or Triple 8.They’re all reputable.

The new Flyaways are no better protecting your dome than any other bucket. Their cost is crazy, IMO.

Make sure whatever brand you get is certified, though.

I'd also suggest trying one on in person instead of being tempted to buy online. The fit is important and it's a pain in the ass to have to send one back because it feels funny.

I hate wearing a helmet but if I'm going to put one on, it better be comfortable!

Thanks fellas, I decided to grab a vintage on eBay if one in my old color combination turns up and just make it a wall hanger.

I wear a helmet in allot of my other activities and have had enough mild concussions that would been much worse if I hadn’t had one on that I don’t need convincing.

    Happy new year.

No matter what, do NOT wear a used helmet.
The foam can "go bad" and you should replace them every 3-5 years regardless if they see action or not.

You really don't want a false sense of security and the helmet fail when you actually need it.

Keeping one to display is fine. Like an old motorcycle helmet. But you shouldn't be wearing it as an actual piece of safety equipment. The one thing that NOS is actually a bad thing is helmets.

There are only a few different brands/models that are rated for multiple impacts as well. The rule of thumb is if you hit your helmet hard enough that it would have been bad without, time to get a new one.

Not trying to be preachy, just saying it like it is from my own experience.
