I checked on skull and bones. As of 2017 it is still legit. Apparently they are affiliated with AWS.

I just stopped by the Powell factory store, they are more into history than I expected. The dude up front knew the years for various old wheels etc. and they have some orig old decks signed by the brigade. About half the decks on the wall are old school reissues of skull & sword and the like, but I was surprised to not see any Iron cross or tony decks etc. They did have the old guerrero, steadham, and cab decks which have a bit more concave than the skull & sword which was kind of boaty for even back then. They didn’t have any Ti trucks though. It is a fun place to visit, you can walk around back and see where they make and package/ship decks.

B4631DEB-C825-44F8-85EF-C0926C933E61.jpgI absolutely love this board and had a OG back in 1983-84 that was based off of Dogtown’s Suicidal Skates”Stonefish” model. This re issue board though has slightly more concave and a spoon nose.Same Lance Mountain 1983 artwork.I purchased the re issue back in 2017 and Lance signed it in 2018 at a art show with Steve Caballero and Steve Saiz also part of the show.

Lance proceeded to tell me that night that the re issue i had was a limited batch because it had the “Suicidal Tendencies”logo like the original where as the boards that came available after that said “Suicidal Skates”.Overall this board had become so much fun to ride even with all the signatures and ones i’m hoping to get at Skatercon.I’m simply going to retire it as i’ve already pulled off the rails for more room for signatures.Wall art happiness and memories!I’ll keep it in mind to purchase another re issue one if i choose to do so because this board is a blast from the past on your feet to ride!3B8E3834-F34F-4F09-93A6-2628E03681FE.jpg 9DBD3BC8-A2E8-436E-B212-2F210D9CC70E.jpg

That is cool you have been collecting stuff for a while. How many decks do you have?

I never got signatures etc. but probably should have in retrospect. I threw out a stack of old boards a long time ago and the few I still have are the ones that got found at my folks’ house. My sister has one of the original stonefish boards. She didn’t really skate so it is still in really good shape. Black and says Dog Town spelled as a cross in white on the bottom. It has the City Street 2-tone super soft street wheels, bones ceramic bearings that can be taken apart to clean (those were $35 back in ‘85) and indy 169’s on it. I thought it was too big and heavy so I didn’t ever break it in for her. Given the history, I bet that dogtown is collectable now. The shape was similar to the Hosoi style.

I have 20+ i believe. Some i ride completes, some i won’t set up.I’ll take a picture of everything when i get back from Skatercon2020.I’m not really much of a collector. If i come across a re issue that i had when i was a kid/teenager than i’ll scoop it up if interested enough.I’ve missed out on some unfortunately or have passed on some because the professional skaters name isn’t on the board anymore.Example,Vision Mark Gonzalez. The re issue is available everywhere but no longer has his name on the area of the board unless it’s NOS.I had one back in the day but the re issue is meaningless to me because of the name factor.

As a kid growing up i never thought of saving boards or completes.I’d wear them out, throw em away, give em away to friends or some were unfortunetely stolen. As far as signature’s it’s just been a fun factor in the last handful of yr’s but not a must.If i can simply get the chance to talk to pro’s that i admired back in the days(late 1960’s,70’s,80’s,few yr’s of the 90’s)or get a quick picture that’s what’s special.I’ve even at times didn’t even bother to attempt anything out of respect.

I’d really like to see pics of your sister Dogtown if possible. That’s fantastic and a collector. The shape is very similar to the Alva Hosoi board.

Yeah I'd really like to see pics of your collection when you get a chance. I had never really thought about 'collecting' skate gear, it seems more like hanging onto good guitars or tacomas because there is no modern equivalent. My 04 tacoma is at the top of that list. I'll ask my sister about her board, she didn't skate it much because she wore combat boots in high school lol.

Took the skateboard out a while back to see if I still got the moves (58 years old now) like when I was 15. Well I don,t anymore back in the garage the board went. I just did not want to explain to the Doc in the ER how I broke my hip. Some things are just left to be alone when you hit 50 plus like skateboarding or Roller Skating.:(:(

My dad comound fractured his arm snowboarding in his mid 60's and yep the ER did find it amusing. The metal edge pulled out of the board and hung up on hardpack to throw him off, sucks because that ended our snowboarding trips in the winters.
