That lone star board in post 1836 has lots of miles on it! The sea wall in Galveston, bike trails on Amelia Island and Baker Fl. I took it on work trips near Little Rock Ark. and Alexandria La. Most recently my kids and I took it down the Spruce Railroad trail between Forks and PA Wa!

All right, who's in on these?
I got the Cab, Lance, and Guererro. The Cab II is special. Haven't had one since 9th grade. That one was black with a red dragon.

I rode the McGill Lance and Guerreo back in the day ('85+). The Lance and McGill were faves on halfpipe. Still have a vintage Lance Mountain. I never understood the nose on the Tony (not really necessary for grabs) or the tail on the Cab. The Tony always seemed to be riffing on the Hosoi deck which was odd given their style differences. Curious if anybody knows the history of the old Tony deck shape, he wasn't pulling rocket airs with that nose iirc.

The new Powell HQ moved to just down the street from my office. Everybody who works there is always super cool.

I used to love getting a blank deck and cutting my own crazy fish shape. I thought I was going to have my own board company until I started breaking them in half. LOL

The amount of influence these guys had on me and my buddies is indescribable. We watched. We imitated. We went in search of places to skate. Congratulatory skate pic. '88 or '89?

Been kicking this for over 40 years now.
Last year I had 5Points Skate Shop slap some new indies on it. Now I just shoot it around the block. Great exercise. Life is good my TW friends.

I recently put the new Ti lightweight Indies on one of my old boards with new OJ III's and Powell bearings. Had to re-drill holes in the deck for the modern hole pattern. Need to get some grinds on those trucks before posting pics obviously. 50/50 is not an age limit for shredding.

That McGill lower right was one of my goto shapes for vert (mid 80s). No nonsense and seemed light for some reason. Similar to a Mountain. That Wellender was my first freestyle shape. Heading over there next week to try to find some copies.

My coworker, friend, is Ray Meyer who was sponsored by Santa Cruz back in the day. He has at least one signature board, maybe more, which is pretty cool. You older guys might recognize him. He is out of the Bay Area California.

I picked these up at McGills yesterday. They had four cabs in the wall in the store. I'd call tomorrow to see if they had any order cancelations and you might get lucky.

The mountain has always been my favorite all around shape plus he's an amazing skater.

    I like the Caballero dragons

It's crazy how there's an entire subsection of snowboard spins that start with his name

I copped an autograph off him at a music festival in Eastern Washington when I was like 15

Yep, a Caballerial on a skateboard is a fakie 360, popping off the tail

Snowboarders began emulatimg it, popping off the tail and spinning off a jump. Then it became simpler, nowadays anything leaving the ground switch frontside is considered "cab". Don't even have to pop off the tail like a fakie Ollie. Just any spin, switch frontside..

-Cab 270 onto a rail (ending in boardslide position)

    -Cab 540/720/900 etc on jumps

Sorry for the trick nerd derail :)

    Really cool to find this thread! Used to skate all the time in my younger days, but hardly ever now. Worked up the road from McGill's in Encinitas for a number of years at a local surf shop. Thought I might share some skate related artwork I've done;

This was a commissioned deck design for a now defunct co.-

This is a few years ago but I had taken my kid to the skatepark and I’m cruising around on an old Natas doing some nose rides and these young guys (15ish?) wanted to check it out. They were nice and noted it was “a vintage deck, and vintage trucks, and are those vintage wheels?” Then they asked “where did you get it?”
    I said I bought it new…
Punk ass kids made me feel old.

Scrubbed some tires, and knocked a dent out.
Last time I skated I hopped on some kids board and went up to slide their rail.

It was about a 10' pole and as soon as I hit it, it started flexing down. I fell. they laughed at me. I laughed at me. Then I told them their shit sucks.

The other day I farted when I was pulling my heavy ass bag out of my truck. Made me realize Im fucking old.

Had fun and did cool shit with skate boards back in the day, but that shits definitely behind me lol.

The Dogtown was built for the wall to remind me of the pioneer days back in late 70s-80s.....no more crazy stuff for the old man........the blue tape bamboo sector 9 is a fresh build and the red hang loose sector 9 is a fresh resurrection. It has scratches and shit, just hidden under fresh tape. Trucks got a bit of polish but still has scratches, bottom of board still sportin scratches. Bofadem gettin some play. Gots me several mellow surfin spots around the area.........I ride to go ride............20230325_110227.jpg 20221105_154501.jpg
