    Hey Tacoma World,

I’m not sure why I didn’t set up a TW account until now, but thanks are in order, as I’ve long been a guest and informative TW posts and write-ups have helped me to complete some of the recent work on my truck. I purchased my ‘03 in 2011 with approx 40K on the odometer from the original owner, who was pretty religious about keeping up with its maintenance. I initially did so too using his longtime mechanic and then another solo mechanic. I must admit that life got busy with work and kids, and the truck was a little neglected for a period of time (not to be specified for fear of being banished from the forum FOREEEEVERRRR) until last year when I decided to tackle the valve covers that had been leaking. When I started searching for info online, I stumbled upon Tacoma World. Between TW and YouTube videos, I completed the job myself, in addition to the timing belt and radiator. It was a very satisfying experience, and has given me a greater appreciation for my truck. Now I have the bug for working on it, and I’m looking to make some mods, including to the suspension, wheels, tires etc. I have already started searching TW for ideas. My truck’s mileage is now at 83K, so hopefully it has many more years of life left since it is being better maintained, which means I might be a part of this community for quite some time. I’ll keep future posts shorter. Thanks again for sharing the knowledge, experiences and ideas.

    Aloha and mahalo,
    Nohea

    Welcome to TW, Nohea!

An '03 with only 83k? That ride has a ton of life left!

Out of curiosity, what island are you on? My wife's conference was cancelled this year so we we're supposed to be on Maui right now, instead we get windchills of -31.

I’m on Hawaii Island (aka Big Island), where we have snow on some of our mountains right now, but the temp in our area is a chilly 68 (seriously a little cold for us). Can’t imagine -31.

We've been on the Big Island three times and each time I like it more and more. The first time was a bit of a shock because of how little vegetation there is compared to Maui or Kauai. At least on the Kona side.

The number of Tacoma's out there blew my mind, too. Literally everywhere.

    Again, welcome to TW!
