I should order it, I need to pull the passenger door off any way and clearance the door handle better, it’s a little tight and sticks sometimes

I have thoes they didn't make a noticeable difference by themselves. Maybe they will when added to a sealed door.

I got a few things done on my project. I was thinking about it last night and decided that I should just get a subwoofer while everything was exposed. Called the local shop I like and they had a few options and I ended up with the 6x8 infinity bass link mini. I don’t need a ton of bass, way past those days so this all in one small unit will be perfect for me.
    • Finished the passenger side with dyna liner
    • Got the MLV down
    • Gaskets on the shifter base of the crawl box shifter base
    • Ran the wiring for my infinity bass link mini
    • Cleaned up the wiring
    • Started working on swapping the rear cubby covers from carpet to vinyl

Another day gone, a little more work done. Today I got the vinyl floor in and fitted and all the trim in. Got my subwoofer wired up and got my speaker amp wired, just need to grab some self tappers to mount them. Only thing left is my rock lights, seats and drivelines. I’ll pick those up tomorrow. The goal is to be able to give her a test drive tomorrow. Let’s go!!161D3F23-8E7D-41EA-B298-23A1B9AF7AAF.jpg11430D40-859B-4CE1-A703-818FB1C261C5.jpg

Extremely interested to see how well the sound proofing made everything more enjoyable.

Wanted to give a quick update, have been driving the truck when I can, a ton of outside noise is gone of course that means I hear other things better. I hear the motor more now than ever before doesn’t bother me tho. The stereo sounds great! I need to tune the amp on the sub to clear some distortion. But the speaker sub combo is awesome. I hear the crawl box whine and the shifter has a little rattle that I try to track down. Overall I think the sound deadening was a success. I also think that it will make a crazy difference for the temps in the cab.

the crawl box is fully operational. LoLo is crazy slow and the 4.7 seems like a box I’ll use a lot alone. Can’t wait to use them on the trail.

however after some pics I found and discussions in the crawl box thread, I do plan to pull the cases back out to apply a thick coat of moly grease to the trans output/coupler/Cb input connection point and the CB to tcase connection point. It was an oversight on my part.(it’s also poorly documented) but it seems to have lead to some fretting of the splines when left undone. I don’t think there is any immediate concern as some people have said they ran it dry for years. That being said I plan to just knock it out in a few weeks once I’m back from a business trip. I’d rather be safe than sorry. Last thing I want to do is be stranded due to a stripped coupler or input splines. Of course I’m bummed, so really hoping for a one time install…at least for a while, but like most other builds that won’t be the case.

last update is I decided to order some seats. I’ve rocked the scion TC seats for a about 2 years now abs they have been fine overall. However I’ve wanted something with a little more support while on the trail. I ended up ordering the corbeau trail cats, with heaters, lumbar supports and the seat covers as well as the seat rails. I look forward to getting this but it will be a few weeks since corbeau called and said they need 3 or so weeks for the seat heaters.

I need to grab a good interior pic now that everything is back in the truck. I’ll do that soon.

    Stuff. Also things.
No idea how I wasn’t sub’d before, but I am now!

Love what you’ve done with the truck, man!

Interesting that you hear the motor more now. How high were you able to get the MLV up against the firewall? Part of my hopes is to lower motor noise since I am screaming at 3500-3700 RPM's down the highway.

I'd say this is probably the best way to do it. Lots and lots of work so I passed on that, but yeah I still have some road noise but I think it's all coming from the firewall area

Yeah, it’s not silent in my rig, it’s a lot better. But it’s would such a PIA to pull the dash out

Okay, I was out of town this past week. So I had ordered a few things that I needed.

since I will be pulling my cases back out to correct the missed step of packing grease on all the splines connections there were a few things I would need.
    1. The recommend moly grease
    2. More RTV
    3. Some scrapers to remove the old stuff
    4. And gave the permatex gasket remover a try as well
    594359E3-4EFD-4D9F-90CB-BB7D82CFD2AD.jpg

My corbeau seats are in as well, very excited about these and my initial thoughts about them are very good. I went with the trail cats with the added lumbar support and seat heaters. I also ordered the seat covers…I don’t know how I feel about those yet, they don’t super great on the seat, but we will see. I’m still waiting on the sliders to come. 847C37B4-8731-4312-9AFA-6BF649EECE7B.jpg

The seats will be in once my cases are back in. Plan to get started on that this week with the intention to be done by Saturday.

I pulled my cases out today, to pack the splined connections. I really didn’t want to do it but I was a little scared after seeing people having fretting issues of it wasn’t done. Sooooooo I said fuck it. Dumped $60 bucks of perfectly good oil and pulled the cases. Hours of work for 2 mins of greasing. I’m not bitter your bitter :annoyed::rofl:. Just need to button up a few things tomorrow and install the new seats then hopefully not have to do this for a good long while. worth it, versus cruising along on a trail or highway just to have the splines fret completely and be sol.

Cases are back in and functional. Just gave her a test drive. Happy to be down with it for a while!

also got my corbeau trail seats in! They feel great. Ran a 3/4” spacer to get them a little higher. Got them from @turbodb and ended up cutting them in half to work for both seats rather than 1. Seat heaters were being obnoxious but got them working. I think my breaker on my blue sea fuse panel is acting up.
