Not sure yet, haven’t looked in to it much. I think I can replace the gears in the speedo to correct it.

I used a Dakota Digital SGI-5E. I liked it because it takes all the guess work out of it. You can set it so that your speedo is exact and you can adjust it when you change tire size as well. I think I have the wiring listed in my build for my S/C reg that I installed one in. It’s onkt 3 wires yiubtsp into behind the glove compartment.

Also just seen that my CV it shooting out grease. Could that be a result to the new gears?

Ordered up some GearTech splash guards, got to lazy to make them. Also ordered a mic mount for my CB radio. Gonna get some LBJs soon through a friend that gets a deal at toyota and I really want to find some different seats for the truck.

So I finished my reboot and got the CV back on the truck. Now I just need to reboot the other CV and figure out a way to store it for a trail spare. Im thinking getting some 6" PVC pipe and caps and then mount it under my bed platform.

How did that re-booting process take you?

It took about 45 mins. Relatively easy, just pretty messy. One thing I wish I would have had was a paint pen to match the splines, I used a sharpie and it started to wear off quick. Im pretty the spare will take closer to 30 mins now that I know how to do it.

Also I would use the OEM boot kit. It comes with everything you need(boots, grease and inner/outer clamps). I bought the SDHQ boots and I needed to source the grease and inner clamps.

That's good to know as well. Did you happen to look into those high angle boots at all? I've always been curious has to how well they actually prevent boot wear.

I did not, I went with the SDHQ because its suppose to be stronger but I probably will get an OEM kit when my passenger side needs a reboot.

Got some new lower ball joints. Plan on doing a 90k overhaul(6k miles to go) trying to spread the purchases out some. Next I want to get new inner and outer tie rods, steering rack bushing and possibly a new uni ball for my icon uppers. I will also be doing the timingbelt at the same time.

    FAA70191-356A-49B4-987E-78B7DCF8EE87.jpg

I want to do it while the used parts are still good and can be used as trail spares. Figured those will all be nice things to have in an event something breaks

While you're searching for some of those OEM parts, check out Amazon Warehouse deals. I've had pretty good luck lately with them. I had to get new front cam bolts this last week. I was able to find a couple of the pieces as "used-very good" for 1/4 of the price. When I received them, they were brand new with just different packaging.

I’ll keep an eye out! I was thinking of doing moog tie rods and energy suspension bushings.

I’ve definitely come across that stuff on there as well. I did Moog TREs on my 2000 Tacoma I had s couple years ago. They helped tighten up the steering quite a bit. Those ES steering rack bushings are definitely worth it. And they’re very easy to change if your doing TREs and the same time. The rack will have plenty of movement with the ends being disconnected

Yeah last time I did bushing I left the TREa attached and it was a pain in the ass!
