Ordered two Jerry cans today, a 20L GEGL for gas and A 20L frontrunneroffroad water can. When they both show up I’m going to make a mount that fits them both and bolts up to my swing out. Also ordered a trasharoo and that showed up today!

Decided to make my own Jerry can mount for the swing out, it was fun and good project to practice my welds.

Okay, so the jerry can mount worked awesome, I love having access to the water in the mount at the turn of a knob, makes washing your hands, rinsing off plates or filling a bottle super easy.

now I also ran into a different problem with the swing out. Got distracted and drove off with the swing out open and bent the top plate of my bumper slightly. For the rest of the trip my swing out didn’t want to latch close and was a PITA! Came home and heated it up and bent back to place. It closes fine again.

The issue it brought up is, it’s far under supported. It’s currently like this(don’t mind my shit drawings)
    79B010C9-077A-4C3B-B5D5-70294004BEFA.jpg
basically only being supported by 3/16” top plate of the bumper.

I’ve decided to pull the bumper back off and run the bolt through the top and bottom plate of the bumper. I will add 1-1/4” pipe with 3/16” WT as a sleeve and run 1/4” bar up the back side of the C mount. Like this:
    65C2E6E9-D91C-42AB-A5CD-0D5765E133A2.jpg

while I’m in there I am going to try to add some additional 1/4” gussets where I see fit.

I hope this makes it all more stout and reduces the chances this happens again. We shall see.

Alright I did my best on fixing it the swing out. 1-1/4” x 3/16” tube, there’s a 1/4” plate welded in perpendicular to the 1/4” strap that runs up the back of the mount. I hope this does the trick. I have one more card up my sleeve if it needs more but I think I’ll be good.

Got the bumper back on and the swing out on. Loaded it with tire, high lift and 5 gallons of water and it operates so smooth now. Has a barely any play in it. I’m stoked, glad it’s fixed and I can go about worry about all the other projects I have going for the truck.

Took my truck out this weekend to do some fishing with my pops for Father’s Day. The swing is working good and opens and closes so much easier now and Is so much more stout. Glad that’s fixed and survived The Weekend test. I am still considering boxing the c mount and relocating the locking pin, that would take car of the remaining bit of flex. But we will see how it is after I figure out the folding table for it.

I also still like the idea of adding some type of adjust leg that swings down, so when I’m at camp and I have the stove on the swing out I can give it some additional stabilization. I’ll have to think about the best way to do that. I could just use the hi lift that’s already there to take the load off and support.

Changed the oil yesterday right about 95k miles. Had a reddish hue. Need to monitor for the next oil change.

also notched my skids so they won’t interfere with my LCAs.

Arb snorkel I found local. Snorkel install went smooth. Drilling Into the a pillar made me nervous lol I didn’t seal the drain holes in the air box. I didn’t like the idea of rain water and such not being able to escape at all.

Got the factor55 ultrahook installed, kinda sucks to cut off the old hook. Oh well. Took the opportunity to wash the winch line while I had it pulled out, haven’t done it in over a year. 6FC0FEE3-CB46-4909-A5CE-6E746CD3A84E.jpg C4D67262-2870-45AC-AEAF-70210ADC8B00.jpg 1B33A248-B496-4F0C-91E1-B9D57A895DD8.jpg D90C030E-4586-447A-A79A-A240F213957A.jpg 9A8A2F14-4319-409A-BC0C-55F637B69446.jpg

That old hook would make a nice coat rack hook.

Good idea. I didn’t like ruining a perfectly okay hook. But my welding jacket does need a place to live....

This weekend was able to get a few things done on the truck.
    • Replaced the carrier bearing
    • Added a Marlin Crawler E-Locker skid
    • X2power AGM 24F battery

Does that marlin cover mount up nicely? I just put a trail gear one on and one of the long studs for the e locker isn’t long enough to go through the entire nut with the guard installed

It’s mounts up pretty good but it required me to remove one of the bolts entirely which I thought was a weird design. 33261536-748A-4807-AFE6-A251374AF701.jpg

Got my grill all finished up came out pretty damn good. The process was time consuming but not hard overall.85D2F083-BA71-4E13-99AB-684446AC7863.jpg
