Are the OME 883 coils an option on the 2nd gen?
I own a 05 reg cab 2.7L 4x4 with new 4 leaf TSB springs. Looking at improving suspension but don't want to AAL or change out new leaf pack.
    Thanks

I'm getting the 883's installed tomorrow on my '13 DBCB. I'll let you know if my truck blows up or not.

Also getting OME Nitro's on all 4 corners, but leaving the TSB leafs for now. From what I've read on here this should give me 1.5" in the front, which is all I'm looking for. Not sure what I'm going to do with the rear yet though - I don't really want to put an AAL on these shitty used stock leafs. I imagine at some point in the near future I'll reintroduce some rake, just not sure how.

Anybody know of a new leaf pack that gives maybe an inch over TSB? Dakars are probably too beefy for my needs.

Thanks. Searched and looked but it appears a lot of the installs of 883 coils are on 1st gen or larger tacomas.
PoweredBySoy, Let me know how it looks and feels. What made you go with 883 over taller?
    Thanks

After doing a couple months of research and reading, I finally decided I wanted 3 things, given my needs:

    1) Improved suspension and ride quality
Easy. OME should be pretty great and a solid upgrade over stock.
    2) Enough room to fit the tires I wanted
The tire I wanted was a 32" (255/75R17). This was the most important part. And I've been told by multiple gentlemen on this site that I should be able to fit that no problem, with little to no trim.
    3) Maintain the factory angles as much as possible to avoid vibration and other bullshit problems
The 883's were about the lowest coil I could find. The Eibach's give about the same amount of lift too, but those sound stiffer, and I wanted to go with OME anyway. Yeah, 3" lifts look awesome, but I didn't need it, and I don't feel like replacing UCA's and dealing with additional driveline vibration issues. Who knows, maybe I still will, but I wanted to lessen that chance.

New wheels and tires will be going on Monday at the dealer, as well as getting an alignment.

    Quick update...

I've had the 883's on for a few days now, and I'm somewhat happy with them. For one they didn't give me as much lift as I expected. From others on here that installed them on a DCSB I was expecting ~1.5", but in reality I barely broke an inch. I'd say I got about 1 1/4" passenger side, but driver side was down to just under an inch - which is another reason I'm sort of bummed about these. The driver side is noticeably lower, even with the trim packer installed.

So right now I'll probably end up buying a 1/4" top spacer to help bring the driver side back in line. Assuming the coil won't need to be removed, it should be a quick install.

Right now my main concern is if these 2883's end up settling lower - which I still haven't been able to find a straight answer to. I've emailed Dan at Wheelers (where I bought everything) but he hasn't gotten back to me yet.

But, today I had my new wheels and tires installed, and so far they fit well, and between the coils and the natural lift of the new tires (32"), I'm perfectly happy with the added height. I honestly don't think I'd want it much higher for a daily driver. I've also had zero new vibrations introduced, so that I'm really happy about.

Ride quality, with the 'old' Nitrocharger's, is noticeably more stiff - but not to an annoying degree. And I'm somebody who would be annoyed by something like that. You definitely feel more of the smaller bumps coming through, but at the same time this suspension eats up the bigger bumps and dips with ease. I like it. I like it a lot. Feels beefier.

I'm sure your reg cab would see more of a lift from the 883's. Probably the perfect amount imo. But the variance seems to be the luck of the draw....

Satoshi, debadged, rear view mirror bracket, tail gate hose clamps, trimmed mud flaps.
Do you have an aftermarket front bumper? That would cause the 883's to not lift as high as advertised.

Nope. I have the Toyota front skid, but that's pretty light.

I only wanted 1.5-2 inches lift on my 4cyl AC and was debating the 883s or the eibach 1.6in springs. Read so much conficting threads on both it got too confusing. I went with the eibachs and 5100s set on 0. As it is now I have a 1.75in lift which is perfect for what I was wanting. It will probably settle a little more. Hard to say if it's better than stock (didn't really have any issues beforehand) but is in no way stiff or bad. My tacoma is better riding than my camry any day. In the end I'm glad I got the eibachs, but probably would have been just as happy with the 883s.

I know this doesn't answer your question, but went through the same thought process recently.

Thanks guys for the response. I need to place my order soon. Where did you order your shocks/coils from?
How's the rake on your trucks?

I ordered from Head strong offroad. Best prices and superb customer service.

Topper kind of throws it off just looking at it but there's mine:

    ACTUAL numbers:

    3" up front
3.34" rear; but even closer to 3" with the topper on 99% of the time.

I'm running 883's with Billies now and I got about an 1" lift over stock. The ride is great.

So can I buy new shocks and just use the stock coils just to lift it a couple inchs. Dont really want to change my UCA if I dont have to thats another 400 bucks. Also would I need the diff drop to. Can you show me a picture of your truck.

If I could just buy the 5100 for it all the way around to just level it out I would be cool with that. Is this possible.

The shocks won't change your height, it's the springs that do that. The 5100's are adjustable up front so you can compress the stock springs some to lift it but then the ride changes. I went with 883's because I snapped a leaf in the rear and replaced that leaf and added a another full length leaf on both sides which raised the rear about 2" and after researching I saw that 883's would give enough lift to get back the factory rake. There is enough information on TW to answer just about every configuration through the search feature.

I also want to run 255/75r17 tires on my '07 DCSB, and want to do so with the minimum of front lift. How are you finding the spring/wheel combo? My truck is a daily driver, but will see some careful driving on pretty rough tracks when I am needing to access remote wilderness canoe launches. I am trying to decide between 883 and 884.

    Thanks!
