Wow I was looking at old photos of my truck. Here's a profile of before and after the lift. OME 887's and Dakars.

Can very clearly see the gap between tire and wheel well change.

    Before:

887's with no weight up front can go 2.5-3"

That's a big difference. Did you have to get UCA's?

I was advised by folks here on TW to get UCA's with 887's. I got the Light Racing (LR) UCA's put on at the same time as the lift.

It's recommended to replace UCA's with anything over 2.5 inches. I would recommend replacing with anything over 2 inches.

that's the height I'm looking for, but the weight is the question. Do you have any additional weight up front?

I'll probably be in the boat for switching to 886's here soon. I've got full steel plates underneath already on my 887's. Plus I've got a winch ready for install and a Pelfreybilt steel bumper on it's way soon.

yeah, that's an easy one. I'm just in the middle weight range up front. Winch is only in the receiver when in use, but the hitch was pretty heavy when I installed it. Probably at least 70lbs. My skid is about 50lbs. No bumper in the plans.

sliders coming soon also, but shouldn't really matter since the weight will be between the front and rear axles

Are the 887s Bilstein 5100 compatible? Anyone know? Don't want to buy new shocks if I don't need to.

I'd lean toward 887's. Why? Because if you're at 2.5-3" to begin... you'll eventually settle down to where you want to be. That 50lb skid and the transfer weight from the sliders (which are likely 100lbs each) will settle the front a little as well. If your goal is 2.5" with weight on board I'd just do the 887's.

I've had my lift on about a year. I don't have a winch. If I do add a winch I'd go for 886. I went with the 885 because it was only about 100 extra pounds up front and I didn't want a stiff ride. Even after a year I still have over 2 1/2 inches of lift.

Thanks! I'm getting some great info. Now definitley leaning to 887s if 5100's will work with them.

This is some good info. I bought front OME used with 3k miles, with 885s. Has the drivers side spacer installed already. I have an RCI front skid (45lbs) and am planning on a pelfreybilt hybrid bumper with no winch (110lbs). Also planning on new Dakars for the rear. I guess ill see how things go, before upgrading to different springs later down the road.
