I am ready to install my Westin Max winch mounting plate (60lbs), TMaxx EW8500 winch with Synthetic rope (60lbs), and bull bar attachment (15lbs) on to my Tacoma and was wondering with a total weight of just under 150lbs can my OME 885 coils handle that "light" addition of front weight without a problem or do I have to go 886 coils? I already installed top plate spacers to get true 3" lift.

885's are rated for up to 150lbs additional weight up front IIRC

You will most likely get some compression / sag over time

Would suck right now to jump to 886 coils after a recent alignment plus extra $$. I wasnt planning on a winch setup but deals were very good and I bit at it lol.

So may be safe to say to eventually go 886 correct or just play it by time and see how they hold up

If you don't want to switch now then don't see how it goes and switch later if you feel like you want to

I have a ARB front bumper with a warn xp-s 9500 winch and 886 and they are still stiff . I think 885 would work better .

I have a 4 banger access cab 4x4 with sliders and I 4xinnovations 1/4 inch front skidplate sitting on 885x springs and it settled down to exactly 2 inches of lift if that helps at all.

    absolutely NOT!!

I have more weight than that on 886's and its borderline too stiff.

    -edit-

ive been corrected by OZ-T, 887's actually would be better IF he is looking for that "lift"

I built a hidden winch mount this past fall, which weighs about 40lbs over the stock crash bar. I installed my warn M8000 with synthetic line, so it's probably in the same weight range as your Tmax. All this on stock front springs at stock height, and so far, no noticeable difference in ride height. It might feel a bit heavier up front, or it might just be in my head, but it still handles and drives just fine.

I'd think you'd be fine with your 885's

Thanks for the guys for the input. I will take a measurement before install and after. I will take another measurement in the spring and see if I lost height. If 885's are starting to sag I will go 886 coils. I think my 885's are going to be good they are still designed to handle extra weight( 110lbs ). I dont want a crazy stiff ride, truck rides perfect with my current setup.

884 885 & 886 all have the same spring rate, they just get a bit taller to accommodate the extra weight. if you find you lose ride height i suggest a top plate spacer as a cost effective way to get back the extra height. this way you have a couple options and can choose the extra height you want knowing exactly what you will get. additionally you will also have more down travel in the coilover by not adding the taller springs to them resulting in a nicer on road ride.

884 885 and 887 have the same spring rate and different lengths. 886 have greater stiffness. I think 590 vs 650 lb/in. Numbers may be slightly off but google will tell you. 887 will give a bit of height over the 885 without the added stiffness of 886. I think they are 5 mm taller.

my mistake, i would imagine the 886 do ride rough without lots of extra load up front.
