So glad you solved it! My experience was the same as stated in this thread.

You can sell the shocks in the TW market place...recoup some cost, that's what I did.

Exactly. Someone in the "OME coils should only be paired with OME struts" camp will surely take them off your hands.

What clip setting did u use on ur 5100s and ome coils. I have 885s with ome shocks and top plate spacer for 3 full inches of lift in front and hate them. I have ran billys before with stock coils but never ome coils. I want to keep the full 3 inches. Reckon a man could put clip on 2nd setting with ome coils and get 3 full inches? And improve ride over my ome setup? I was planning on just going back to icon and saying screw it and getting ucas. But my ol man and his wife have gotten into financial trouble and im making there mortgage and mine. So that thought is on hold.. Also thought about going back to a db lift. An may down the rd. But like i said cant rightt now. Billys maybe my best option.

I sold my OME takeoffs for half of retail, plus shipping, so $125 I think. Mine were low mileage too. lol

I'm happy with the 5100 / 885 combo. I do recommend UCA's too. When i first installed the combo I had zero issues it was fantastic off road and good on road. After about 6 months of heavy Wheeling the pass side UCA would contact the coil on the down-stroke making a clunk noise. I switched to aftermarket UCA stand this problem is now gone and my alignment has been corrected as well.

I think a step up from the Bilstein ome spring is the Bilstein 6112 series shock and spring combo it's a much larger diameter shock so it will be better for washboard and continuous off-road use I would recommend looking at those.

I wouldn't bother with the racing series shocks, they are really fantastic at what they do but for the Overlander they're Overkill too much money and unless you're jumping your truck or hitting it hard off-road for long periods of time it's not worth it in my opinion.

I'll put on my flame suit now, cause because people will burn me for that hahaha.

Ahaha I feel the same way. I see all these people with remote reservoirs, and 99% them don't need it, but spent the extra coin for the looks.

The 6112 is a spring shock combo pair sold by billstein.

Eibach is rumored to manufacture the spring for Bilstein regardless it has great results.

Well, thanks for the update and for trying the bilstiens (not that you did it for me) - now 5100's and 885's are on my to-do list when the old bank account is ready.

I just got my 885 OME kit, and now after reading the first few pages Im worried. So many people here have said the OME kit has a great ride. I thought I did a lot of research but I never saw this topic.

I'm trying not to check this thread because it makes me want to redo my whole suspension. I've decided I'm not going to touch anything until I get everything else sorted, but every time I jar my phone out of its holster while driving on NYC freeways I get irritated.

I'm not 100% sure on the ride height but it should be achievable.

I recommend the extended length 5100 for rear. I got 3" of MORE wheel travel when I ditched the OME.

    Details in my build thread.

Gotta say that again, Three more inches of travel, amazing!

wow, I basically have the same setup. But I have Dakars in the rear. I dont have any complaints, but I dont have anything to compare to, coming from lowered cars..

But I just placed an order for Icon Stage 5. I guess ill see the difference soon enough!

So my full OME 885 kit is installed... and Im happy with it so far. It does have the thud on certain bumps at downtravel, but it doesn't bother me at all. It seems to be if I hit a large speed bump at 20-25mph it will do it. If I accelerate over the bumps, or go faster than 25, it doesn't do it. There are no other squeaks or rattles at all. Im going to Mammoth next week to do some off-ro.... I mean collect more data. So Ill have more info after that.

I'm not a fan of my OME setup at all, I have 885s, nitrochargers, and wheelers AAL. Same jarring "thunk" coming off speedbumps and rocks offroad when the shocks top out. It's a pain in the ass around town but unbearable offroad. I've finally had enough, Icon's 2.5" RR CDC fronts, 2.0" RR Rears, and a dakar leaf pack due for delivery next week.

Truck is a DCSB Prerunner, with OME 885 coils with nitrochargers, dakars in the rear.

    :help::help::help:

I can not stand the "slam down" from this kit. I am really confused why this happens and how it will only happen on some trucks. I am even more confused about what happened with my truck. I installed the lift with stock uppers, and had the problem. I then installed Icon UCAs and it went away, and I was so excited! I then took it to get it aligned again and still no problem! Then I started hearing a popping sound and a terrible noise when I went over a speed bump, turns out the shop forgot to torque down the LCA bolt on the drivers side. I got the issue resolved with them. However, the "slam down" is back...:frusty::frusty::frusty::frusty::frusty::frusty: I do not understand how this could be possible!

The only thing that I see different is the cam tab. As you can see in the picture where it use to be compared to where it is after the retorqued it back down. Could this affect the "slam down"? Should I take it back and have them put it back to where it use to be?
    IMG_5438.jpg

This is the passengers side, I can't if it slipped or not.

"Everybody" doesn't say that.....But....There are TWO distinct types of spacers. Top plate spacers do NOT preload coils. Spring spacers DO.
