I have a 06' DCSB with 885's and 5100's set at 0" for a couple years now and they are doing just fine. I know there is a good number of people running this setup as well.

The only reason I am interested to know the answer to this is because I currently have the 5100's set on the highest setting. I just picked up a set of 886's for SUPER CHEAP and don't really care to sell the upgraded shocks I already have to spend additional money on another shock. I understand that I would need to drop the 5100's to 0, I think the main concern on this setup is if the retaining clip can handle the pressure of the 886 coil. I cant imagine that the 886 coil set at 0 would create any more pressure than the stock spring set at 2.5". Any more input on this?

I am doing the 886's with Bilstein 5100's. I have an Elite bumper which is a bit over 100#'s so it was recommended. I will advise after I test it out what I think, but this was the advice I received from two shops (withholding which until I know it is a good combo).

    Thread revival, anyone? :D

I'm considering the same lift (886's and 5100's) and would like to hear any feedback.

Here is why I've arrived at this combo (please correct me if I'm wrong...but only if you're actually right and can prove it! ;) ):

OME 886 springs to keep 2.5ish" of lift with full skids, sliders, winch/mount

Bilstein 5100's because I have read a lot of complaints about the OME shocks topping out really bad with the 886 springs

Bilstein 5100's because they may have more travel than stock/OME. I found a travel number (measured by poster) in the mid-travel and BS thread on the 5100's that was very close to extended travel King shocks

I don't do high-speed desert driving. Truck is a DD and I take it on forest service roads and tight, rocky, muddy, rutted trails. I'm not sure Kings/Icons are worth the money to me. Plus, I don't want anything that requires more maintenance/attention than my factory coilovers. So, a threaded body with preload adjuster that corrodes or an exposed shock shaft or seal to get pitted/cut and start leaking is not what I'm after.

I would probably get a pair of LR UCA's as well to take advantage of any extra travel the 5100's may offer as well as correct for any alignment issues I may come across.

I have done a lot of reading on suspension for these trucks and it's full of all kinds of half-information, guesses, incorrect information, good information, hating, fan-boy-ism...it's all over the place. And much of the misinformation starts with the dreaded and oft-misunderstood ''what lift do I need to clear such and such tire size?'' question. This thread was closest to the topic I wanted info on so it wins!

I will call a few shops as well to get their take...

Anything new on this? I have ARB/winch with syn line setting on my 5100s and 885x coils, I love the soft ride and regained down travel but would like to gain 1/2 to 3/4" of lift back. Options are move 5100s to .85 setting, 1/2 in spacers, or 886's (stiff ride I'm thinking)
