OME 887 + Bilstein5100 Set up?

Here is mine with 5100's with 887 with stock rear.


And after Dakars with large overload removed and 5125 shocks.


I had 255/85/16 tires installed the other day. The fit is perfect, but my alignment is not.

 

Yeah I wrestled with the black on white look or the all white look for a long time. I ordered black... and called them later to change to white. Set back my delivery time frame to do it. There's another TW member in Hawaii who had the Pelfreybilt in white on his white truck. I just kept seeing photos of his truck in my head all the time - so I bit the bullet and went white.

Everyone has a black bumper in town. But nobody has white. Though I suspect touch up paint on white is more difficult to match than black is!

 

How much did everything for you cost? Like shocks/springs/UCAs/ and leafs

Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road is great. You can buy as a complete kit and save money that way. If I order the exact setup I did previously they show $1,685 right now. I did 887's, LR UCA's, Strut Assembly, Full Dakar Leaf Pack, and the 90021 (soft ride) shocks.

 

I didn't buy UCAs would that be a problem for the alignment? I have stock 18" rims tires are 265 60 18 I'm planning on buying new ones around august

 

The tire size won't impact the alignment. However, getting aligned properly will impact your tires (tread wear, steering, etc).

Some guys are able to get their alignment into spec without UCA's I'm told. Others report they can't get it aligned perfectly in spec without upgraded UCA's. I bit the bullet and did it all at once just in case since I was pushing for 3" of lift. Ultimately you can ask the shop doing your alignment for a print out so you can see how they did it. If they report any issues you can always add UCA's later.

 

I'll see what I do. I hope It would ride the same on road like on the highway for when I go out on the summer.

 

I actually liked the highway ride quality of my OME setup better than the factory setup. It'll be a stiffer ride on bumps but at speed on smooth roads it's like butter.

 

General rule of thumb is if you go more than 2" of lift, you need aftermarket UCAs to get proper alignment.

Really ill see if I buy them just the UCAs is $480 I'll eventually have to buy them I guess but for now I'll see how the alignment goes

 

Hey do you think I should get the full leaf pack or just AAL? What are the cons of just getting AAL? If im going for a 3" lift I'm thinking I will need to get 2" to level out? I have a 3 leaf pack

 

I'm going for an AAL because my Tacoma is about to get a brand new OEM 4 leaf pack from the dealer from a recall. Otherwise I would probably choose to replace to 11 year old leafs for a new leaf pack like dakars

 

I went with full pack because I didn't want to add to the crappy OEM pack.

 

I want the tsb leaf pack haha. I'll try and ask them about it and see if there is a recall on it. And if so then I'll just get the AAL. Because right now I'm running on the stock 3 leaf pack

 

I do lift installs in my shop. And I've got the exact same lift as you've ordered in MY truck, so I'm very familiar with it. I charge $400 to install that "kit". That does NOT include ANY parts, nor does it include alignment. Also that price does NOT include installation of UCA's if you want/need them.

If you think that's too much, go buy a floor jack, jack stands, air compressor and impact wrench, tie rod end puller, a set of metric impact sockets, a set of metric wrenches, pry bars, hammers, etc.....and do your own. It's not too difficult once you've done one.....First time can be a royal pain....

 

I would buy all that if I had a garage and I thought it was too much because I wasn't familiar with prices but as you could see othe tw member already told me that the price is about right! I wish I could do it myself but It's impossible here

 

He doesn't an air compressor, impact wrench, tie rod end puller or pry bars for the installation of this kit

 

Thus, why I suggested he could either go BUY that stuff (for well over the $400 quoted to install the kit) , OR, pay the going rate to have a shop do it.....

 

I don't think I'll need all those tools I'm not going to open up a shop
