Finished up today with rims and tires. There are some pics after lift install with stock tires and then today with the 285s. Huge thanks to @ajohnson for all the help with the lift install yesterday.

Looks great!! Did you end up rubbing at all? I had to have a cab mount chop done and even still rub a bit at full lock in reverse...

Thanks! I have not trimmed anything yet. I'll definitely trim the inner plastic and go from there.

I was a bit leary on cutting anything due to sometimes you end up with jagged/rough edges. I used a heat gun(wife's pink crafting heat gun) lol. And with a little heat I molded it where I needed it. Just a tip.
By the way Truck looks good.

I have a 2009 dcsb 4x4 and Was thinking of buying from headstrong either the bilstein 5100/ 887/ Dakar/ LR UCA for 3 inch lift and 285 70 17 ko2 tires. Or getting the performance kit with 6112/5160/ Dakar. I wanted to get a 3 " lift so that I would have room for the 285's. Not sure if this kit would get me 3" and if I could use 285s. Also not sure if I would need and UCA with that kit either. I am definitely a newbie, but I want to do it right the first time with little regrets. Any help or suggestions would be helpful

That set up should get you 3" of lift with room to fit 285's
People recommend the UCA 's but others have run this set up without. Choice is up to you.

I guess if both kits would accommodate the 285 it comes down to quality and price. I can get the 6112 setup for the same money as the 5100 minus the UCAs. If I don't need the UCAs with the 6112 kit then that seems like the way to go. I don't know if the 6112 kit can get the full 3" or just 2.5" in which I wouldn't need the UCAs. I don't do a lot of off-roading. But I do want it to perform as best as possible and be as big of a lift without getting into a lot of money and having to alter my truck too much. I definitely want to stay within the 2.5 to 3". Thanks

There shock isn't what gives the lift. The coil does so you should get the same amount with 5100 as 6112 but also remember if you are going to go with the 887 coil, do NOT set the spring seat on anything other than the 0 setting. Otherwise you risk damage and a shitty ride

I don't want to go cheap. I do want a good ride and a good lift and do it right the first time.
I was just seeing if it's worth it to go with the 6112 and if I could get 3" with that and use a UCA.
Or if I can only achieve 3" with the 5100/887 and I can get the UCA for the same price as the 6112 without UCA

    5100/887/ Dakar and UCA=$1600 (and 3")

6112/ Dakar without UCA =$1600 (and unsure if 3" and the need for UCA?)

Can 6112 setup get 3" and therefore need a UCA?

Some of this & some of that...
My 2 cents: The first choice is the most solid depending on your plan for the truck. I have a similar combination (progressive leaf pack instead of the dakars) and it performs consistently on and off road. The truck is my daily driver mostly on paved roads with the occasional heavy load in the rear so I went with the UCAs to ensure proper alignment and progressive leaf pack for the occasional load. Since the lift has settled, my truck sits almost level at about 3" of lift in the front now.
The second choice would require you to preload the spring to achieve the desired ride height. So you can get there, however, IMO it will not perform as well as the 1st choice due to the preloaded springs effect on wheel travel (someone correct me if I am wrong). UCAs are normally recommended if you are going above 2.5in of lift . However, plenty of guys on here have acceptable alignment numbers for themselves on stock UCAs and 3" of lift. Best of luck.

    Cheers.

I would go with the 6112 setup. It's made to be adjustable and the ride will be better.

    GO HAWKS!!

I was reading through this thread to get some info on using 6112s vs 5100 ands 887s. I am torn between the two and would love to have some advise. I do moderate off roading for hiking camping that sort of thing my truck is my DD. I don't plan on running a front bumper at any point. I want to have a full 3" lift or as close as I can get to it. I am just torn between the two

SO with no armor up front you got around 3 inches after it settled? That is exactly what i want on my 2009. Do UCA's make any difference in lift?
