OME 887 with Bilstein 5100

Ya I thought if you were buying new coils that they were different for 2nd gens. But ya if it’s the same part then that makes sense

I’m trying to figure out why mine sagged so much

 

I’m looking at the 5100/887 set up and you mentioned yours has sagged...has it sagged far below the 2” mark as advertised with the 5100 set up? I was tossing around 885s or 887s...looking for around 1.5”-2” range, gonna pair it with progressive 3 AAL for a 1.5” out the back. Would like to keep a small rake and don’t want to go bigger than 265/70/17’s. Are your 887’s the “newer” more sag prone coils or the older ones? Thanks! Truck looks great btw

 

Thanks man! I’m really happy with the look but not loving how much they settled. At first it was 1/2” but now it’s been a inch. So I feel I only got
Like half of what I almost wanted. The other thing is because my winters are smaller I’m going to loose more height for the time they are on
I’m actually talking with ARB and they said there’s no difference and 2887x doesn’t exist in their system. To me it sounds like they aren’t admitting to a lemon, because they also said that I should adjust my shocks and of it doesn’t work then message her back.
Obv adjust the shocks up will give it lift but then there is not much of a point to the coils at all

 

Dang! Really?...hmmm I wasn’t expecting the 887s to settle that much?! Im not looking for a big gain, but don’t want to have to worry about them creeping further and further back to stock height either. I might have to look at other options. I wouldn’t want to notch up as well. Nice to see some limiteds getting into the mod game

Also if Im looking to run the Headstrong AAL in rear with overload leaf in, i should get 2in rear lift, but I want it level like this, Obviously down the road is some new leaf packs, but for now to get it leveled out, do you think i need a 1in block for the rear to match the height with the 887's and same spacers up front?
Ive got JBA UCA's in the mail this week, heard many good things about them since theyve worked out all the kinks and whatnot.

Im thinking of going with the B110's but it says on HS site that its mainly for 3-4"lift, just wondering if the rear leafs+aal being at the bottom end of that if it start to sag too much will it be then less than the 3-4in lift and potentially damage the shocks? or is it 'close enough' where it wont make much difference?


Goal is to run 285/70/17's on the 4runner trail wheels shortly after.
CB drop and diff drop already planned, as well as the ubolt flip and superbumps you have too.
any other recommendations or tips?

Anyone with a 3rd Gen 2WD have any experience with 2887 with 5100s or OME Nitto struts??? I am aware of the headstrong chart, I just want to know some results from actual 2WD owners. Thanks!!!

 

Hi, got the 5100s with the 2887 this spring,it lifted about 3" after 10,000miles they have settled to 2 1/4" of lift. What would be my best option here to get back to 3", should i just set the coils at the .85 clip, or put on some kind of spacer. The truck rode great at 3" no vibes no nothing, slight slight vibe when taking off, but i did do the ecgs bushing.

 

Can anyone tell me if extended bumpstops are required for this kit, if so what lengths do you need. I never cycled the suspension when installing it and have been getting off-road more and more. Just curious as i really dont know the answer. Any help is appreciated.

 

I’m running 887,3rd gen 5100s, and an Icon aal. I’ve never measured my exact lift, but I hope this helps. Rear definitely sagged some after Snugtop and Prinsu rack were installed.

Thinking of going with some 275/70/17 wildpeak c loads to avoid rubbing/cmc, but some say the 285/70/17s with my backspacing will fit with no rub if you get .75in wheel spacers, can anyone confirm this? Thanks yall

I had the 885 coils installed for about a year prior to the 887. I swapped to achieve a little more lift. I would say the ride is the same, definitely an upgrade from the stock sport suspension. I do have SPC upper control arms and a body mount chop. Tires are 285 70 17.

 

Thanks , last questions....Did you do the cmc due to rubbing? Did you rub with the 285 in the city or mainly off-road? Did you ever try to align the Taco without UCAs while having the lift and 285s? By the way really appreciate this info. It’s very tough to find info on 2WD 3rd Gen Tacos with your set up.

 

No problem, I got the cmc because my wheels were rubbing really bad with the 285s in reverse. Like enough to make it a pain in the ass to parallel park. I don’t offroad at all, I use my truck for work. I got the upper control arms and 285s installed at the same time. I ran the lift previously with 265s and stock upper control arms and it was fine. I also run spidertrax spacers on my wheels, not really sure if that added to the rubbing or not.

 

2887 OME coils. Bilstein 5100's. 1 inch rear block. 16" method 309 grid 265/75/16 falken wildpeak at3. Picture was taken with the stock set of rims in the back of the bed.

 

Nice truck.So how’s the ride quality? Did you achieve a 2.5” or 3” lift in the front? The 265s don’t look as small as I thought it would with the 885s.

 

Ride is pretty smooth and I like it better than stock. It also handles pretty well. I can still take the freeway turns/interchanges at decent speeds without any tire squeal. Way smoother when i hit speed bumps and jacked up roads in los angeles. Some of the roads are so bad here it makes wash board desert roads feel like new pavement. I can't remember the exact height but with the suspension upgrade and change of tires from 245/75/16 to 265/75/16 I think i'm up a total of 3 inches.

I think after these tires wear out I'll move up to either 275/75/16 or 285/75/16. I like fat tires. My x5 had 325/35/20 on them.
