OME 887 with Bilstein 5100

Good looking truck. About to go the same route as you, but with AAL in the rear instead of blocks....... I think. I am pretty set on 265/70/17 Wildpeaks which are about the same size as yours but worried that they'll look "small" in the wheel well. I have a pretty good commute to school every day so I dont want to weigh down the truck with heavy tires and lose a lot of mpg. Do you wish you would have gone with bigger tires, or are you happy with the 265s? Thanks!

 

I went with these tires b/c my friend recommended this size to get decent mpg and have the ability to play in the dirt. I actually want to go to fatter tires. The x5 I was driving before had 325/35/20's so I'm use to having fat tires. I currently get about 15.7 to 16 mpg (with the Borla muffler). I keep the ECT on all the time. I think the MPG is not bad since my x5 would get 6 mpg in traffic (twin turbo v8) and averaged 13.5 mpg city/hwy. My 2008 tundra i use to have with 285 size tires averaged about 15-17 mpg. But i also use to live at the top of the hill and so it would suck gas trying to get to the top. Average mpg driving up the hills was 12-13 mpg in the tundra.

If you're a student and concerned about mpg and saving money then 265/70/17 will be fine. It'll look nice and you still get decent mpg. I'm not too concerned about mpg since i'm a stupid salt water fisherman and the big boats we run get 1 mpg on a good day. The smaller boat gets 3.5 mpg. We easily spend $500 to $3,500 on fuel a day chasing tuna on the west coast.

Well I have a 2019 TRD Sport 2WD. I just lifted the truck with a full OME kit. 887 Coils and Medium duty leaf springs (Standard Dakar Leaf Pack) and soft valving Struts/shocks. On a 2WD it translates to a lift of Front Driver 3 3/8”.....Front Passenger 3 1/4”.... Both rear 2 5/16”. Yauza!! I knew it was going to be taller than the 2 inch advertised increase, due to mine not being a 4x4, but it was a significant increase. I just installed the BFG KO2 285/75/16 on SCS F5 with a -25. I can feel the truck pulling harder with this size. It only rubbed on the front bumper splitter /chin spoiler, so far.

TSS issues?

 

No TSS issues whatsoever. Even after the lift, my lane departure, blind spot monitoring, and front proximity sensors all work well.

887 and Dakar help!

I have a 2011 DCSB 4x4. I am about to install 887 coils in the front with SPC UCA's and nitrochargers. I am trying to figure out how to end up with 1-2 inches of rake. I am installing a new leaf pack, either the el095r Dakar medium duty pack or the el096r Dakar heavy duty pack. I typically carry no weight in the rear but occasionally load the bed for out of town trips 200-300 lbs. Also looking to install a bed rack and RTT but that won't be for another year or so, hopefully. If anyone has this setup I would appreciate some pictures. Worried that if I go with the medium duty pack ill sit nose high or at least it'll look like it. And also worried that if I go with the heavy duty pack i'll be sitting with 3+ inches of rake. Thanks in advance!

 

Planning to lift mine 2.5 inches with the 5100s, I'm assuming I shouldn't need new UCA's, also found 2 OME 887's on craigslist for 70 usd owner says they were used for a couple of months, Is it a good deal?

 

I have the 887's with the 5100 and dealing with the flattening out over time since it has been two years now. My 5100's are set at zero, but has anyone gone up a notch to makeup for the loss? If so any coil bind experience when that happened?

 

What is everyone using to compress the coil springs with? Trying broke my floor mounted compressor and the hand held ones bent the tread bars.

 

wow, I installed my Bilstein 5100's and OME 887's using the compressor less method. Put the jack under the axle near the ball joint...lowered and raised shock into strut

 

A shop today quoted me $850 Canadian to install my shocks ome 887s with my new top strut mount kits. Also included is to replace my bushing with the ecgs bushing. That seems expensive to me.

 

that's very expensive for something you can do yourself. What's the strut mount kit you're talking about?

Personally, I just watched a bunch of Youtube videos and did the lift myself and I'm no mechanic. You should take your shocks, struts and assembly kit to a tire shop to compress the springs. Then it's just a simple swap out

she'd rather you give $850 to the shop rather than to the kids or her? Shops don't equal safer my man. Look around these forums and you'll see plenty of problems from rushed jobs
