5100s don't compare to OME, IMO.

    Worth the upgrade.

These coils are designed exactly like the factory ones so fitment wise there shouldn't be any difference at all.
Honestly it sounds like you installed them upside down based on what you are describing.

How familiar are you with this assembly or even the coils themselves?

This is where the misinformation starts and next thing you know people start saying these coils don't fit because someone chimes in and says things even though they don't really understand what's going on. Now maybe you do and perhaps you got a defective set of coils, who knows, but can personally attest to the fitment and I am very familiar with the assembly process.

Show me pictures of the assembled struts.

Compression on the OMEs is more forgiving than the 5100s.

How much lift are you guys getting using 887's with 5100's set at 0? Is it the same as my stock coils set at 2.5?

Initially it was right at 3" for me but it has since settled probably about a quarter inch....so approx 2.75", DCSB 4x4 no armor.

Where is a good place to buy the 887 coils?

Pretty much the same setup as me. I'm on ATX -12 offset 285/70/17.

Really looking at going back down to 265's though.

What are the advantages of using the 887 coils over stock at 2.5? I'm assuming that since the stock ones are preloaded there's less travel, but please educate me. I'm trying to get my suspension right.

Stock at 2.5" gets you 2.5" of lift vs 3" with the 887's. I've never ran the stock on that setting but lots of guys complain about them being really stiff and a bad ride.

So 887 should equate to more lift and better ride. I can't speak yet from personal experience, just from my own research so take that with a grain of salt.

Like someone mentioned before, there's so much bad information that spreads on here like a STD outbreak. So do your own homework, but I believe my summary is the general consensus which should save you a lot of reading to gather that same conclusion.

What does a better ride feel like? I honestly have no complaints on how my ride feels but I hardly go off-road. I'm planning to start taking my truck off-roading very soon, so I'm just trying to make sure I have everything right.

I just went from 5100s with stock coils at 1.75 to 884X coils and OME Nitro sport shocks. The difference in ride is huge. it's not quite car like ride but pretty damn close. Freeway driving is smooooooooth a glass. Really bumpy roads are still really bumpy but I ride through them, it's a huge improvement for me.

I haven't ridden in a truck with 5100s at 2.5 so I can't comment on how they compare directly.
