I am sure this has been covered somewhere but for some reason I cant find it anywhere. Can I run the OME 888 springs on my factory shocks? For right now I like the soft cushy valving the factory OR shocks seem to have I travel alot of really rough interstate for work when I drive the truck. I was going to go with 5100s on the 1.75 setting but it seems like that much preload would make it real stiff. So the taller 888s would be the ticket if i can just mount them on my factory shocks up front.

No you can't. But OME struts aren't that much money.

5100s get you 1.5-2" of lift set to zero - the lift comes from the springs not the shock setting. 888s with 5100s set to zero.. I think the same lift @ a little less than 2" = ride is superb... it will be just what you are looking for. Aren't the stock shocks Bilstein 4600 on the OR?

The 5100s are a few steps up from there. I have a TRD Sport and the 5100s are great soft when I want them and stiffer around turns and on the trail. Great combo. You won't be disappointed.

I have the OME 885s with the 5100s.

You need something to lift the rear or you will have the Taco "bro lean" ...

5100 are valved the same as the 4600. But stock 4600 will have no down travel with 888 springs

Not even sure what that means ^^^ but "no down travel" sounds pretty harsh to me, just sayin.

    Edit:
Did research came up with this link: So I would just get 5100s since the OP likes the ride of stock then right?

The 5100's are only a fraction of an inch longer than factory TRD strut. I believe the OME struts are even shorter than the factory TRD 4600's

Why can't we just attain lift with OME 888 on factory trd strut?

Factory springs are 710 pound rating.
    OME 888 have a 590 pound rating.

Understanding the 888's are longer than oem springs but with a lower spring rate I don't see why this wouldn't work.

Other than the "it can't be done" Has anyone ever actually tried this combo?

I asked this a long time ago and it was shot down. I don't understand how it's any different compared to a hockey puck spacer. Wouldn't you have less down travel with a spacer lift on the stock shocks?
