    Good evening TacomaWorld,

Just curious if anyone with a stock bumper and no winch as adjusted the preload setting on their BP-51 from the manufacturer. If so, did you use part VM80020001 and could you give me some more info? I've searched the Googles high and low and can't seem to find a photo of one but am worried about a few descriptions I have read stating it is to be used with a bench or wall-mounted type spring compressor. I put out some feelers but it's Sunday and have no expectations of any vendors responding until no earlier than tomorrow.

    Thank you in advance.

Here's what a 3rd Gen TRD OR looks like with BP-51 coilovers at 20mm setting (pre-set by OME/ARB).

Here's what it looks like with weight added on the rear, and the front BP-51 coilovers lowered down to 5mm pre-set.

Yes, use the tool VM80020001 on the bottom of the coilover, and orient the bottom of the coilover upward as shown. There are also instructions in the kit. The tool has 3 perfect slots that mate perfectly with the top side of the wall mounted spring compressor.

If you plan to keep the front lightweight, I recommend absolutely no more than 10mm. 20mm is too much. My shocks consistently "topped out" over bumps as there was not enough up travel with no weight on the front at the stock 20mm setting.

Outstanding write-up! I've been eyeing a new bumper and winch so figured instead of bothering with adjusting the preload, I'll just install the new bumper and winch. Looking at next month. That topping out you mentioned is exactly what I was feeling and I originally thought something was loose. I then thought about the preload and how I lost some travel and figured that must be the cause. ARB tech confirmed my theory and your write-up proved.

Your truck also seems to sit more level than mine. I might be pulling a leaf out of the pack as well especially after installing the bumper.

    Thanks again @WILDPEAK !!

I really want these but the idea of pulling them out all the time until you get it dialed turns me off as I don’t have access to a compressor like that .
