Looking at pics of king and fox, the remote rez is usually mounted outboard of that part of the frame. Their kits also leave the mudguard flap in place. Not sure why OME chose the top. It fits into their swaybar relocate. In that location it does seem to be more protected from debris and stuff but as I said my drivers side does get really hot...

I swapped them, zero difference in ride height, also had correct bolt length installed

Yes with that much oil that's a leak for sure, bummer. Hopefully they can have a look at the shock to diagnose the issue..

Does anyone want to weigh in on the fact that the rears give a taller hub to fender than other shocks? This has been puzzling to me.

The BP51 kit comes with the same dakar leafpack supplied with anyone getting the leafsprings for a tacoma, I thought the springs set the height
Dakar leaf springs usually provide less lift with say nitrochargers, or other similar length shocks, BP51s are giving 4"
The shocks are identical in length, the stroke length would seem to be identical.
Does that mean that there is less/more up travel, or less/more downtravel with the BP51 compared to other shocks of the same length?
Where in the stroke length is the resting height?

Are you sure? I ask because there are other subtle non-mechanical variables that can throw this off. Is your gas tank always the same fill level when you took the measurements? Did you have stuff in the truck, or was it totally empty during any/all measurements? I assume you mean sitting statically on flat, and level, ground whenever you measured. The rear shocks do nothing for ride height. It is all spring. They just need to settle a bit.

I would not confuse ride height with downtravel. I'll try to explain it the way I understand it. The travel is (or should be) only as much as the shock piston rod compression and extension will allow. In the case of compression (or uptravel), it should be stopped by bumpstops. In the case of downtravel, it should be stopped because the leafspring has reached its maximum downward deflection, and the shock should be selected by proper extension length, which should be a little longer than the maximum of the leaf pack downtravel to avoid damage). When compared to nitorchargers, there was little to no difference in the BP-51 piston rod length. But because other folks have gotten more droop—up to 2 inches— by using longer non-OME shocks with Dakars, this means the OME shocks are bottoming out before the leafpack can reach maximum downtravel, which is not good for your ride, and may damage the shock. And all this is why I backed off getting the BP-51s.

    I hope this helps.

Thanks, I didn't bother adding my hub to fender to oz-t's dakar height thread because I'm an inch and a half above his averages. @Blackouts got 4 inches on all four corners https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ff-road-4x4-build.424764/page-3#post-12576383 he measured with a laser level. I'm at 25 3/4 on drivers and a solid 26 on passenger side. anyone else have hub to fender measurements?

Guess I'm within a fraction of an inch of others with Dakars oz-t thread has an average of 24 5/8ths for DCLBs post dakar install, I was at 26 before the shell

So if I fully droop I'm going to bottom out the shock? Well that sucks

This was the point of my earlier posts...quite some time ago where I was citing Crom's measurements and changes to the Bilstein...shit I forget the number. B110 or something like that. once Dan at Wheeler's got a set and confirmed compressed and extended numbers for to to compare against nitrochargers, I was done. With a DCLB and no locker, I want every inch of downtravel I can get.

It's actually the reverse. If the springs are in full droop, the OME shock will "top out", as in fully extended, and yes they will limit the springs.
