I think you're definitely correct, as far as their website saying that. However, when I was doing my research for a leaf pack, I used only headstrongoffroad's site as well as lots of reviews from people online and in person who said the medium duty packs couldn't handle any weight at all and that's why I chose the HD packs. It's unfortunate that websites are adrvertising the MD pack as being rated for any weight.

Yeah it always so confusing especially when getting info directly from manufacturers is so hard. Idk. Its handled "some" weight just fine. But I'm afraid to add anymore. I would like to add the leaf to convert to HD, but ughhhh, that job is such a bitch.

Adding the leaf really isn't that bad. It's a little more involved than adding a block back there, but you have the main leaf that gets mounted in the shackles so you aren't dealing with fighting to get those eyes to line up, or even any spring tension. If I were you I would do it. I carry 200 pounds daily on the HD packs and they ride nice. And when I load it up with 600 pounds for camping they don't budge.

Also, isn't it just another overload leaf at the bottom, or no? Nope nevermind it's higher up

So I dont need to remove the eyes from the shackles? I'd also need to add a new spring pack centering bolt. Had to cut mine to fit the bump stops.

Squeaks are cured permanently (for all intents and purposes) by spraying Motorkote on the bushings. Seriously. I had serious squeaks, read about the Motorkote trick, tried it once, and it's been over a year with multiple washings, rain, snow driving in Colorado, Texas heat, and no squeaks. The OME springs are worth it.

Nah it can stay on the truck. You're just taking off the ubolt. Clamping the pack to take off the centerpin. Unbolt any retainer clips that are on the pack and then building it back up. But yes if your center pin is cut short you'll need a new one

Yeah I had squeak for the first week after install. They kinda just went away by themselves and haven't returned. I fluid film my truck 3 times a year so maybe that has helped. But other than that I haven't dont anything to the springs and haven't heard a sound from them

Leer 100rcc, bed drawer system, and a roof top tent on OME Dakar HD's. No issues and seems to handle the weight well.

Installed today. Drove 200 miles pulling a trailer. All I can say is - why the hell didn't toyota do this originally? The ride is awesome. Soaks up the rough road. No jarring even over huge potholes. I'm already taking corners faster because I can tell what the truck's going to so - no hobby horsing etc.

And that's pulling a trailer on the freeway.

    I can't believe the difference.

    Be safe everyone.

How is it without a trailer? Nitrocharger shocks?

Guys, I honestly don't know what shocks or front springs he used. I've been to busy trying to bug out of Vancouver to get to my cabin. I just threw the keys to Fab at West Coast Off-Roaders and said 'do it'. I have not extra weight up front so he used the softer springs. And because of the GFC he used the heavy duty rear springs.

Other than that I haven't really checked because I was too busy packing up shit for 4 people to stay at our cabin for an indefinite period of time. I'll try to get the specs later.

If you're in the Vancouver BC area - I can't say enough good things about West Coast Off-Roaders. Fab is a stand up guy. I was in a rush and he threw me the keys and said 'don't worry, pay me tomorrow'. Unbelievable service and reasonable price.

That's a solid idea. I should have done that. Might look into it next time I have to take the leafs off.

I checked. Yep, nitrocharger shocks. And going to the dump without the trailer - still handles 1000% better than stock. Again, I'm shocked at the difference.

I have the OME BP-51 kit plus the HD Dakars. The ride has been great and handles well. The rear end sits a little higher but I don't mind since I tow a bunch of haul around camping gear.

One thing I would highly recommend is to change out the shackle bushings the same time you do the Dakars. Those bushings don't come with the kit and you have to add them separate. They are way beefier. I was having a clunking issue. It ended up being the stock shackle bushings weakening because I tow a Rzr a bunch. I swapped them out and it's 100% better. If you swap them.....make sure to look up some how-to videos because it's a PITA.

Did you Swap the whole leaf? Or add an extra leaf to your med pack?
