New member and first thread. I’m looking for some information on the Dakar spring height and I don’t know crap about mechanics or any of this stuff so forgive me of my ignorance. Now I’ve read a hundred threads and post on this and still don’t have the answer for what I’m looking for. So I have a 2019 Tacoma Off Road long bed and I’m looking for 2” to 2 1/2” of lift on the rear. I have a camper shell and carry a constant weight of around 300 lbs including the shell. The mechanic that is doing my lift said I should get the med. Dakar springs but everything I read says get the HD. So my questions are if I get the med. will they hold up to at least 2” with 300 lbs? How much lift do I get with the HD with just 300 lbs? How will the HD ride with just 300 lbs? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Look into deavers. Much better quality or all pro expeditions. I run all pros on my 2nd gen with 4" lift unloaded, 3" with 600lbs weight. They actually handled 1700lbs bed weight and still held 2-3" lift.

Yeah I’ve read that they are better quality. Actually my mechanic has already ordered the Dakar med springs but he told me I could change to the HD if I told him pretty soon. I might have to look in to those but I got to do it quick. Thanks

If you're stuck on OME, you can turn the Med into HD with an extra leaf if you decide to. If you're still able to go with another company, I'd highly suggest Dobinsons. I have the 111's(med) on my camp trailer(they are spring under with no shocks right now) and 112's(HD) on my truck b/c I have a decked system and camper shell sometimes, with plans for a Brute Force HC rear with swingout. @Crikeymike has great CS and will walk you through the options.

Thanks everyone I’m a little old and trying to figure out this site, haha. Right now I’m probably going to go with the Dakar even though I’m pretty sure there are better options I know that sounds stupid but I’m on a waiting list and time is running out. I would really like to know the Dakar med. and heavy height and how it’s effected by weight and how it rides? Thanks again for all the replies and help.

My dakars do great for weight and keeping the back of the truck high but they wrap like crazy. Everytime you put it in drive its a full second of the suspension moving. I would not reccomended dakars with so many other brands out there.

Haha well at least you tried. From what I’ve read the lift is more on 2nd gen trucks than the 3rd gen trucks if I’m not mistaken.

Thanks that’s really what I’m needing some help deciding. All I have is the cap high ARE shell and some tools as far as constant weight. I do pack more for hunting and fishing trips but as far as constant I’d say about 300 lbs. That’s the reason I was asking because the 300 lbs is about max as to what I’ve read the med. call for jus didn’t know if they would hold up at recommended max weight. Just kinda trying to judge how much height I’m looking at after settling occurs.

Just a PSA don't forget to grease the pucks otherwise you will get the dreaded Dakar squeak. I've had my mediums for 3 years or so and don't have any complaints. Once a year I grease them and they have been squeak free.

Yeah I’ve heard the squeak but my stock ones are squeaking now with only 16000 miles. Thanks for the advice. Has yours settled much or you still have close to the recommended height?

You want HDs. I've heard of the med leafs sagging with minimal bed weight after some time. But they will ride a bit stiff.

Yeah I have too that’s what has trying to decide. The guy doing my lift order the med. but since I’ve been reading I’ve wondering if I should change. He said he’d give me a couple weeks to decide.
