Actually removing an overload from the Dakars doesn't effect the ride stiffness , removing the 3rd does that

It is hard to compare AALs to full replacement packs. For AALs, you can't go wrong with either Icon or Wheelers, but I think Wheelers is a better value.

As for the full packs, I'd say the All-Pro's ride and flex the best, providing great off-road performance, but do sit higher than the others, which are good products as well. It really depends on how you use your truck.

We sell a lot of the OME Dakar springs as well, just keep in mind they are made by an Australian company, and as such, they are designed to handle weight since they load their trucks down for outback expeditions on rough roads.

If you have the money, you can always order a custom set of Deavers or Alcans to match your needs the best, both are reputable companies.

I didn't vote, deaver didn't seem interseted in making a custom pack. Alcan called me emailed on the specs and made suggestions on how how much tongue weight I would have with gear. I just received the leaf pack and can't wait to install them in the next couple of weeks.

I just had alcon make me some springs. I just got a shell and my stock 2+1 spring sage so bad it rode like crap. They made me a 8 leaf spring with a 200 lbs . Capacity that rides at stock higth. Give them a call and talk to Bill the owner and tell him what you are looking for and he will fix you right up .

How does the wheelers 8 leaf pack compare to the All-pro 11 in quality, ride comfort with nothing in the bed, and ride comfort with approx. 500 lbs of gear?

I went with Deaver about 30 min. away from me at first I was going Alcan but I wanted the advantage of having the springs built and installed where I could have him make any adjustments at the completion of the build. One of the best mods I've done to this truck Deaver told me it would ride like a dream and believe me it is better than I could have expected.

I'm 30 minutes away as well. I didn't get the same warm and fuzzy dialogue. Very short and didn't seem interested.

awesome it worked out for you....:broccoli:

    ^^ OEM Leafs.. :)
Actually probably wheelers 3 leaf progressive AAL kit. Rides smooth and can still handle some weight if need be.

I went with Dakars recently and love them so far. I got them because of my canopy and the weight I haul on occasion.
But the ride is great and controlled. They just started to squeak on me the other day when it rained. so I did the easy squeaky leaf fix.

Probably have the only 2nd Gen with an 8274 in the world.
I'm in the same boat, needing rear leafs but really do not want to spend another $500 on a truck with 180K on the clock. I'm leaning Dakar as I want extra weight hauling capacity and a stiffer ride. AS of now, when I accelerate from a stop light the ass-end of my truck dips 2" or more and when I tow my small boat I'm close to the bump stops. Very aggravating. So, what about adding a few Chevy junk yard leaves to an existing OEM pack or is that time well wasted?

I know stock would be best, but I have plans to lift the front with Spindles and Eibach springs, so trying to figure out the best way to lift the back without using blocks

I would suggest the wheelers 3 leaf progressive AAL kit for your needs. Ride is smooth and not harsh, but can still handle some weight if need be. And it can be used with or without the overload leaf. Without will give 1.5" lift, with it will give 2" lift.

FYI guys, the "3 leaf progressive" leaf pack actually decreases load carrying capacity. If you need to carry a decent amount, a new leaf pack would be the way to go.

Anybody know if the Wheelers HD pack adds any lift to the truck?

Toytec drivers side spacers, Toytec diff drop kit. All Pro u-bolt flip kit, TJM Compressor (permanently mounted), Custom rack for the RTT over the bed, Tepui Kukenam RTT, Toyota Bed Mat, Cobra 75 WX ST CB Radio, and a lot of gear behind the seats.
I think this thread has solved my problem. I have a bed rack, RTT and all my camping gear in the summer on my truck but in the winter I have a tonneau cover and my hockey or snowboard gear. From what I am reading the Dakars will probably be the best and in the winter I will throw a few bags of sand in the back.

I will be adding a rear bumper and swing out next year.

*I currently have my a Toytec AAL and with my camping gear and bike rack on my truck had such a bad bro stance I questioned the safety of driving it.
