I encourage you to try and install your self/ with a buddy unless you don't have access to the proper equipment. Me and a buddy installed mine and after some trial and error learned quite a bit. Plus it helps you understand what people are talking about on here.

Never done it, but I would be willing to give you a hand. With that said, I'm not back in Huntsville until the end of October. I've pulled an engine from a IROC, but never done anything with suspension.

I'm planning to go with Bilstein or OME lift myself and wouldn't mind some hands on before I go after mine. :D

    Good luck

There's an intermediate step - you can pull your existing complete strut, and take it with the new shocks and springs to a shop that does strut replacement, and have them use their spring compressor to put together the strut/coilover assembly using your new OME springs and shocks. Then you bolt everything back together.

Just a thought, you may want to post in the Alabama thread in the Southeast regional forum.

I'm a few hours away in Loganville, GA but will be installing ARB, OME with Dakar's next weekend. I have a full set of mechanic tools with torque wrenches, air, jack stands and I've done suspension work on 2 other vehicles. Looks pretty cut and dry. Feel free to PM me if you don't mind the drive.

Did you ever get your lift installed? We are having a mod meet in Huntsville probably at the end of January. Bring your parts and truck and there will be people there who can get it done.

Check out the North Alabama Mod Meet thread in the SouthEast region forum. I should have linked it in my previous post. :smack:

Are you doing UCAs? If yes, getting that bolt out makes the process a bit more aggravating. :p If not, it isn't too bad.

Definitely have help though! A few of the things to be done are tough for one person. But you really just need a jack, jackstands, wrenches, and time. :) Also plan for it to take 2x as long as you think it will. But you can do it.

I'm sure we'd all be happy to give you a hand at the mod meet.

I ordered an OME kit today for my son's 07 DC.
I plan on taking the struts to a friends shop to have his guys swap them.
Everything else will be done by my son and I. I hope we are still talking after this. BTW I am in North Shelby County, just south of Birmingham Al.
If you have not got yours going I may be able to help you if all goes well.

Good luck, take it slow and you will be fine. Remember the U Bolt torque is 73 ft lbs, not 37 as listed in some documentation.
