Alright folks I'm mid install on my dakars. I've got 8 individual shackle bushes but my leaf springs already have black ones installed in the front of the springs? Where do the other four go? Also, do you just grease the internal metal bore where the bolt goes through?

I would hammer out the black rubber one and put the bushes there. Synthetic grease everywhere the poly touches metal. Inside, outside, everywhere.

That's what I wondered but they almost look too big, does the metal around the bush hammer out too?

Listen to @Crom . You got the extra set of poly bushings (I'm assuming from the same vendor you bought the leaf pack from). They're an upgrade to the standard front rubber bushings for sure. Had I done this when I was doing my install, I wouldn't be having to pull the leaf pack out to replace them now almost 1.5 years later. My rubber bushing on the driver's side has started to wedge itself out to one side and it the cause of an obnoxious squeak. The leaf pack itself has been surprisingly silent.

Yes, the sleeve should come out as well. You should have just the leaf spring eye once you have the old bushing out. Basically should look like the rears did when you got the pack.

Don't forget the synthetic grease- super lube is perfect for that.

Roger that. And greasing the inside and outside of that internal bore? Yes, I know it's upside down lol

The rubber one has potential for being unstable in the eye.

    Hammer it out. Easy.

I recommend Prothane Super Grease. Orders better than any syn grease on the market.

Grease everywhere the poly touches metal.

I would grease everywhere contact is made and movement is expected. Might be overkill and some guys say not to grease the outside of the new sleeve (inside the bushing) but none have given me a good reason why.

Should have done mine. Might pull the leaf pack and give it some love next month- sand, paint, isolators, grease and new bushings. Squeaking like an old Buick right now.

Just putting this out there... If they wanted you to use the yellow bushings then why would they take the time and spend the money to put the black bushing in the leaf pack? I have Dakars on my truck and have had no issues with the pressed in bushings.

At the same time why would they send me 4 pairs if they didn't want me to use them. I see what you are saying, glad yours are working.

It's an upgrade. While the rubber bushing works fine for most, OP has the parts and the opportunity to do it now and not have to do it over in the future.

Kind of like saying, "Why lift your truck? Toyota designed it a certain way and it works fine." Yes, it does, but there is always better.

Oh the joy of pulling leaf packs! :D

The leaf tip isolators have been working great.

I think Dakar just redesigned their packs and ditched the crappy rubber bushing... At least that's the conclusion I'm drawing from the pics I saw earlier this week.

And the bushing does can and will move in the eye.

Alright guys, almost done after a dinner break. Has anyone had the rear shock bottom not fit into the mounting point easily? It's being difficult. Hints?

Did you take off the clips that keep the shock compressed? Figure out a way to compress it and as it extends, slip it into position.

Did that. Attached to top, pulled clip and as extended tried to push in but I'm telling you the fucker won't fit.
