    Hey folks,

Looking at installing new springs in the front of my tacoma. Specs are 2000 Tacoma V6 4x4 Manual Trans Ext. Cab. Don't plan on running any heavy bumper/winch.

After reading through several threads and looking over the interwebs I am still not sure what spring to go with for the front. I currently have the OME 7 leaf pack in the rear of the truck with a spacer lift in the front on stock struts.

I am planning to run a set of 5100's adjustable that I bought cheap. From my understandings I would need the 881 or 882. Any help is appreciated.

How much lift are you looking for?

Do you want the truck to be leveled out with the new leaf springs?

How big is the spacer lift currently and does it put the truck at the height you want it to be at?

2.5" or so as close to level as possible with the ome leafs but not killing cvs. I have 1" or something like that spacers on sagging stock suspension. I would like a little more out of the front.

The 882's are probably what you want then. 881's will net you around 2" of lift, plus or minus. The 882's should give you 2.5" like you're looking for.

Kind of where I was leaning but not sure without having extra weight from a bumper if they would be too much. Also I pretty much only drive on the road. Pull a trailer once in a while

I"m having the same issue. Check out this thread, there's a red truck with hub to flare measurements. I used those as a baseline for the 881 springs.
Serious rake in the front after installing OME Lift

I saw that. Seems some people's 881s settle a lot and others not so much. At this point I am thinking its a toss up.

I've been looking at these springs for a while as well. The op of that thread had some what looks like serious sag. Also looked like a pretty large tire.

I'm running 5100's on the middle setting with some clapped out stock springs, new/general spring replacements and a 1.5 aal from wheelers. I need another inch in the front. After much stewing, I ordered 881's. The measurements on the red truck sealed the deal. WOrse case, it's not up enough, and I'll use those little 10mm spacers.

It's kinda hard to calculate lift over stock, when no one knows what stock is.

I'm seriously thinking about going with the 882's. If they are too much I can always sell them and get 881's. Don't really want to use the preload.

Don't worry too much about not having any added weight in the front - the 882's are the same spring rate as the 881's (~500 lbs/in)

Since the arb springs are the same drivers and passenger spring, some preload (with a thin spacer) will probably be needed to combat the tacoma lean. The stock springs are different side to side. My issue is that I don't want it to high, I'm pretty sure the 882 springs will be too tall for me.

I’m also trying to figure out if I need the 881’s or 882’s to match the icon 1.5 AAL I plan on putting in the rear. Like you said it’s hard to tell what you get over stock from truck to truck. Any wild guess about how much you got on the 5100 middle setting?

I'd say 1 inch, they say it should be 1.25

You can always add a small top plate spacer like something from Headstrong off-road. That’s what I’m planning on doing within a month or so.

Yea I know that’s always on option I actually do Cnc machine work so I could always make whatever size I need. At the same time I want to stay away from the spacers if possible especially since the two coils are the same spring rate just different heights. Just seeing people having the sag issue makes me wonder if I need to compensate for that. Also I’m 2wd so I’m sure that will make some difference

Gotcha thanks. Well keep us posted when you get the 881’s In. I just want my truck to sit level with the rear after AAL

Ordered 882's. Headstrong offroad recommended 881s but I've seen a lot of people have issues with those sagging. We will see if it is too extreme I may go back to an 881.

Changed my mind ended up going with 881s. If its not enough I can bump it up a notch. If the 882s are too much I can't drop it anymore.

Sounds good. Hopefully they’ll give you the height you’re looking for!
