    Hello,
Thinking about purchasing 2" OME lift kit but am having trouble deciding which load to choose. Is heavier the load, the stiffer the ride? I do prefer a soft ride but I will be loading dirtbike in my bed occasionally, and also would like to get some lo-pro winch bumper in the future. Please educate me, thanks!

Your coils (load) have nothing to do with the rear. That would be affected by your leaf springs, or any additional mods you do in the back.

I had 885 OME's on my double cab for a while. They are stiff (compared to stock), but if you'll be off-road a lot in your truck or plan on adding the winch bumper, you will probably want the 885's. If your off-road travel will be minimal and no additional weight in the front, consider the 884's for a slightly softer ride on pavement.

Tacomas aren't big load carrying trucks. A bike in the back is going to make it squat a bit.

How are these coil # determined? Do I have to buy these coils separately or do these coil come with this kit by the variant load options? If so, you able to give me a breakdown? I do plan on driving off-road with 2 dirt bike loads (1000lb) average 3-4 times a month. Thanks!

I upgraded the rear springs (where the load carrying is done) from the old style (CS) medium duty to the new style (EL) heavy duty Dakar springs.

The ride did not change (get stiffer or softer), but I notice less squat when loaded and a higher unloaded rear ride height.

885 and 888 coils have the same spring rate. 888's are slightly longer (10mm), which will lift the truck a tiny bit more than 885's. 885's will lift a '16 Tacoma double cab quite a bit in the front. Mine was over 2". You can purchase the coils by themselves, or a number of places package them in kits. Order from somewhere that can tell you exactly what coil and shock you are getting. I love Wheeler's Offroad in Oregon.

1,000 pounds is quite a bit of weight. I would maybe even consider the heavy-duty Dakars, or medium with a helper spring, or you're going to be dragging ass.

What size tire are you putting on the truck after the new coils are installed?

Noted, I'm actually viewing in bilsteinlifts.com which shows a simplified variant option; Stock 2", Medium Load 2", Heavy Load 2". I'm guessing 885 coils will be consider "Medium Load 2""?
I notice they also come with Leaf springs. Should I just ditch those and go with the heavy duty Dakar springs? Or just order front and rear separately instead of getting the kit?

You won't get more than a 285 in the front. And you can expect to do a little trimming of plastic even with those. No big deal though.

Don't "guess" or assume anything. Speak to someone. Know what you're getting. Dakars are your best option. Consider ordering from Wheeler's or Headstrong, where customer service is A+. You also want to know what strut you're getting with your order. 90000's or 90021's.

Viewing on Headstrong. Much more clear! Can you educate me about the strut options? Firm vs soft ride & add strut assembly vs no assembly needed. Also are the UCA necessary? Will highly appreciate it, Thanks!

You would not need new UCA's with 885 coils. The strut options are exactly what they say. You are going to select a more firm ride vs a softer ride. The strut is your front shock. It doesn't support the weight of the vehicle like the coils do, but they can be valved differently to provide slightly different rides. 885's and 90000's is a firm ride, but you said you are going to be off-road pretty frequently and also adding a winch bumper, so I would recommend this combination.

If you want a kit with OME springs and Dakars you can get a OME kit that comes with the OME Nitro Charger struts/shocks and have them assembled so it's a bolt on application. Then you have a total OME kit.

So a stiff ride is essentially better for offroading? How's the ride on pavement? Also what's the meaning to add strut and coil assembly oppose to no assembly needed? Does it matter?

It means they will assemble the coil onto the strut for you so all you have to do is bolt it in place when it arrives vs you will need to take them somewhere to have them assembled before installing them. You also get new top hats and everything when they assemble them. Unbolt your stock struts and bolt these in essentially.

Here it was cheaper for them to assemble mine when I ordered them than it was to have a local shop disassemble my factory shocks to get the parts to assemble the new set I bought. Then if you ever want to take the truck back to stock its a simple unbolt life and bolt in the old.

Get them assembled. The fee is worth it to have a grab and go install. Headstrong knows their shit and they can help answer all your questions and find you the exact setup you want.
