You sacrifice a little bit of your smooth ride on pavement for performance off-road. You can’t have it both ways, unfortunately.

Load range of your tires and air pressure both affect your pavement ride as well. Again, a stronger sidewall on the tire is going to be more “stiff.” That’s about all the factors you will need to consider. haha

So I'm aiming for the front 885 coil with 90000 strut with rear heavy duty dakar. Will this set up be leveled? How many inches will this give me? I'm really hoping get 3"

Don't forget the top plate spacer for the front in order to get 3". 885's on a double cab will only get you about 2.5" and the top ate spacer will bump you up to 3". You can avoid the confusion or the top plate spacer by going with 887 coils which have the same spring rate, but they are taller and yield the full 3" without the .5" top plate spacer.

As geekhouse23 says, you will need to add a top plate spacer (10mm) to get a full 3" with the 885's, or you can go with a longer coil (like the 887's). The Dakar's with 885's will put your rear a little higher than the front, but honestly, that's not a bad thing, especially if you will be putting 1,000 lbs. in the bed.

Or a rear steel bumper and then 1000lbs on top of that. Like I will be doing..SOON..

Got it, something I'm curious about.
The longer the spring, the firmer it is right? Since I was aiming for 90000 firm strut, wouldn't that increase the "firmness"? What if I get a 887 coil with 90021 soft ride strut? Will that "balance" it out? Is that a thing?

The spring rate and the type of strut would affect the ride quality. A tire's rating also does as does PSI etc, but answering the question you specifically asked focusing on the coils and shocks..

I would stay away from 885s if you’re getting Dakar leafs. It’s 2” at first but 1.5” after it settles. I upgraded to 888s from 885s.

Don’t even waste your money on the OME struts either, just get the blistien struts from headstrong. You will def need UCAs

    Is OME better than Icon?

Here's my trucks first drive with my bike, it doesn't squat at all but this is a light bike, 230 lbs.
Also you might want to add tie downs to the bolts that go to that frame, the side loops have a small backing plate and I feel like I was pushing my luck with them.

The one hole D-ring is what I bought online and that bolt goes into the frame.

If you install 888’s you would want UCA’s. My truck performed perfectly fine with stock UCA’s when I had 885’s.

I dont have a bumler on yet with 886 springs and heavy shocks and its fine. Im putting bumper on in a few days :). Definitly go 886 springs as far as back there is a huge difference in dackars and add a leafs as far as stiffness so ensure you get the right answers on that

The valving on the strut is not going to affect your ride until the shock is compressed. That’s why a firmer shock is better for off-road. You don’t want the shock to bottom out when in rugged terrain. The coil will affect your ride on pavement more consistently because that is what supports the weight of the truck at its ride height. Comparing the OME coils, the spring rate is not going to make a major difference. I would be shocked if someone could ride in a truck with 600lb springs and 590lb springs and tell me which was which.

Your truck is stock, right? Tacomas are not level stock. They have a little bit of rake, which is how they should sit even after customizing them. “Level” = squatty with any significant load.

    Yes, totally stock.
Squatty is ass low, I thought that they are a little ass high so that when you put a load in the bed it'll sit level??
I keep hearing guys raising the front with "leveling kits" which defeats the purpose of a pickup. I'm not into that tail dragging mall runner look!

You need 888’s for a 3” and level. You will get 2.5”-2.75” with 885’s (all trucks different) 888’s are same spring as 885 but longer

Are the 888's T4R coils just like the 887's?
